The violence that unfolded last night on W. 6th is horrific. I’m praying for those killed and injured, their loved ones, and all others impacted by this violence. Thanks to EMS and law enforcement officers for their life-saving responses and continued investigation.

57 seconds. This whole incident is tragic, but the sole reason it wasn’t worse was because APD officers responded and were on scene in seconds. Patrol officers and CAST (team of APD officers and ATCEMS paramedics together) moved with incredible speed to stop the killing. Our hearts go out to all those affected by this both victims and family. The utterly amazing statistic in this all is that when seconds count - officers ran towards the gunfire and were there in 57seconds. That’s a heroic speed.

Red shirt is literally being held back by someone else to keep her from charging at the officers again. Peaceful? I think not. APD does their job and as usual these protestors try to make it seem like officers were the aggressors.

The statesman has had a war on the cops in this city for well over two decades if the statesman actually makes this hire we will make it our mission to reach out to all our members and members of other police organizations to cancel their subscriptions!

Austin Sanders is the most vehemently anti-cop journalist in Austin and now he’s working the public safety beat for the @statesman Yet another sign the daily paper is on death’s door. #txlege

I never saw him in a bad mood or not be willing to stop and talk with someone, and was a dedicated officer. @bradlander @GregCasar His track record? Like destroying the Austin Police Department. Allowing homeless to camp anywhere including the crown jewel of Austin, the hike and bike trail. Oh, he did manage to one thing he sat outside for eight hours without taking a drink, such courage.

Hey @CMZoQadri, how about next time, before you automatically vilify and bash APD when you don’t have all the information you actually get the facts straight. You spew hate against APD when in reality those officers were stopping an individual who was trying to assault another person in YOUR district! Austin should be a safe haven for all. But you’ve promoted a sense of lawlessness in your own district.
