I found Shōgun rather woke, honestly. Not because Mariko is intelligent and capable, she was in the novel, but because the adaptation seems to transfer so much agency from Blackthorne to her.

In the Odyssey, Helen of Troy is described as looking mostly like Asuka. Homer took great care to describe Helen as a beautiful fair skinned ginger with twintails.

Ciekawostka, o której prawie nikt nie wie: w oryginalnym scenariuszu "Taksówkarza" postać alfonsa (granego w filmie przez Harvey'ego Keitela) była czarna. Innymi słowy, murzyn czerpał zyski z wykorzystywania nieletnich białych dziewczyn.
Producenci nie chcieli się zgodzić na obsadzenie czarnego aktora w tej roli. Twierdzili, że film będzie rasistowski w przekazie i krytycy zmasakrują go w recenzjach. Obawiali się też protestów i zamieszek na ulicach.
Harvey Keitel z kolei uważał, że biały sutener w Nowym Jorku będzie kompletnie nierealistyczny i początkowo nie chciał wcielić się w tę postać. Mało tego: w ramach przygotowań do zdjęć scenarzysta, reżyser i sam aktor objechali całe miasto w poszukiwaniu białego stręczyciela, ale nikogo takiego nie znaleźli. Biały alfons był dosłownie postacią mityczną.
Podsumujmy: już w roku 1975 (rok produkcji "Taksówkarza") poprawność polityczna odciskała swoje piętno na amerykańskim kinie. Już wtedy zastępowano czarną patologię białymi postaciami, aby uniknąć kontrowersji.

I'm not seeing The Odyssey because it's a Christopher Nolan movie. I was one of the few lonely oppressed minority naysayers about the Dark Knight, so my Nolan dislike goes way back.

After asking the same question four different ways with the help of translators, the father admitted under oath that portions of his testimony from yesterday do not match his interview with investigators last year. Yesterday, the father claimed Shiloh ran after the boy not only to retrieve what was taken from her, but also because he believed she intended to strike, fight, or “rumble” with his son. Shiloh’s attorney pointed out that the original statement to investigators made no mention of that. The father was also asked multiple times whether he or his family had any involvement in a fundraiser. He answered “No” each time. Court is now on lunch recess.

In Gateshead a young girl is blindfolded and dragged into an address by a grooming gang, she tries to escape but they drag her back.
Northumbria Police turn up 2 hours later, they don't put the men in cuffs and just allow one of them to come back up to her outside the address.
Northumbria Police were even offered this video as evidence but never came back to collect it. They commonly neglect evidence and then claim there isn't enough evidence to make any arrests.
