UIMenu result builder is...actually pretty great? Dare I say, UIKit can definitely learn some things from SwiftUI 🫣

Ever since I was little, I’ve dreamed of taking part in the @Apple Swift Student Challenge.
Last year, I had the opportunity to submit Studyzz.

Introducing Allergyzz, my 2026 Swift Student Challenge submission. Allergies affect over 1/3 of the population worldwide. Many of them are kids and young people, I’m one of them. However, when I was diagnosed, I did not receive any explanations about what an allergy is, an allergic reaction, an anaphylactic reaction, and more. I did not know where this was coming from… why me? Allergyzz is an app designed for kids and young people to help them better understand and learn more about allergies. It’s inspired by the experience of a storybook, with the goal of creating something familiar to children while making it dynamic. Same as coding you learn by doing! Allergyzz is an interactive story-driven experience designed to make learning about allergies engaging and accessible. You’ll meet Clearus, an immune cell, who will guide you through this story. (Perhaps Clearus and Clarus are friends, haha 😁). In the app, you’ll be able to learn what allergies are and how they work, understand allergic reactions and anaphylaxis, practice using an epinephrine auto-injector, learn the right emergency steps to help save a life, discover when and how to call emergency services using your iPhone and more!

I designed and drew all the assets myself on iPad with my Apple Pencil. It was important to me to make the app feel personal, just like the story behind it.

Thank you to everyone at @Apple and @AppleEDU who makes the Swift Student Challenge possible each year. 🧡 The challenge has been incredible, I’ve learned so much, met incredible people, and more, all thanks to my passion for @Apple and Swift. I genuinely hope my dream will come true… the exact same dream that this little boy has been having, and we've been having it together 🥹💭 Wishing all the best to every participant ☀️ #Apple #SwiftStudentChallenge #WWDC26

I am excited to share that I will be joining Apple in Cupertino as an intern for their Swift Platforms Experience Team this summer! I'm incredibly grateful to everyone that has gotten me to this point. I can't wait to build new and exciting things in this next leg of my journey.

@Lmssync However when the segmented control is in the hierarchy of a palette, and so uses the glass design by default, using useGlass = false or forceUseGlass = false doesn’t work. Overriding -[UISegmentedControl _controlsShouldAddGlass] to force false works.

When UISegmentedControl is placed in the navigation bar title area, it switches to the Glass style. Inside _updateForGlassIfNeededForSuperview:traitCollection:, UIKit walks up the superview chain to determine whether Glass should be used. (1/2)

@Lmssync It seems like _setUseGlass: alone is not sufficient, you also need to set the forceUseGlass flag in _segmentedControlFlags in order for it to work. Managed to force the use of the glass style using this

@ATBollengier -[UISegmentedControl _setUseGlass:] or traitCollection I haven’t dug into using a specific StyleProvider yet.

Been working on a new channel view for Atwy! It takes advantage of _preferredHeight from _UINavigationBarPalette to give a unified blurred background for the content category selector in the navigation bar.

@Dimillian Pretty sure you could bridge _UINavigationBarPalette over to SUI? Think @ATBollengier has a gist somewhere…

It's sad the extending the navigation bar on iOS 26 looks almost exactly like iOS 18
