@russellybarra Dude, you aren't eating in a restaurant. You are eating in an airport terminal that has a restaurant in it. Totally different. You're lucky they didn't charge you for a whole salad to get the extra ranch.
English

One of my pet peeves is going to a restaurant and being nickel-and-dimed for something as simple as asking for a little extra dressing. It would be one thing if I had already been served an appropriate amount for the size of the salad, but the dressing I ordered to be served on the side came in a small 1.5-ounce portion—the same amount they gave me when I asked for extra, not realizing I would be charged extra.
It’s up to the restaurant to establish the proper portion for every item in relation to the size of the entrée. If the standard portion isn’t enough for the dish being served, the solution is to adjust the portion—not charge the guest extra for having to make up the difference.

@niccruzpatane @SpaceX I can't believe how precise they have to be to get this footage. Think about it, they chucked that thing up on the other side of the planet. And yet they have drones and multiple camera angles to capture it. That f'ing amazing.
English

SpaceX released some epic high-quality footage today of Starship’s splashdown in the ocean during Flight 12.
Starship 39 did this despite being down one engine. Pretty incredible.
Seeing the @SpaceX team go crazy after a launch never gets old. Very well deserved.

@Hot_Pepper76 I'm 58 and have been out for over 30 years, my dad is 83 and has been out for 60+ years. But we both still have frequent dreams about out time in service. Like at least once a month. Any vets out that experience the same?
English

@Hot_Pepper76 Ernest Borgnine. And, I'll let you in on a little secret. Anyone who's ever served NEVER forgets their "military roots". It's baked into your brain. Every vet I talk to regardless of age or time since they left service still have dreams about it regularly. It really is for life

Before he became an Oscar-winning actor, he spent ten years in the U.S. Navy.
After Pearl Harbor, he re-enlisted and served throughout World War II on antisubmarine patrols along the Atlantic coast, rising to the rank of Gunner's Mate 1st Class.
He never forgot his military roots, spending decades supporting veterans and the armed forces.
Do you know who this is?

English

@UnwantedBlog On the flip side, SpaceX has been doing it for almost a decade and are on the precipice of recovering an orbital space craft, not just the booster. Meaning full reusability. I'm glad others are starting to catch up. I personally hope that accelerates.
English

@UnwantedBlog I don't get it. We should all be excited that the world is bringing down the cost of spaceflight. That opens up so many opportunities that didn't exist 10 years ago and it's only going to get better from here and benefit all man kind.
English

Cheaper?
Falcon 9 can land on a simple pad of concrete. This is cool and all, but a simple pad of concrete would be the site of smoking ruins. This requires expensive fixed infrastructure.
JerryRigEverything@ZacksJerryRig
So this is why elon wanted to rush the IPO so bad... 🤔 China just did it cheaper on their first try. RIP 🔻
English

@allieknightt They are trying to impress liberal white woman. That's it in a nutshell.
English

@omgsidewalks "happiness and highest quality of life possible for its citizens" That's your problem right there. Both of those goals are subjective. So, trying to use government in pursuit of that goal is going to fail. Get the government out of the way, and society will make that happen.
English

@itsevelyndaily Still eating it to this day. It's great with some crackers and lettuce for a quick lunch.
English

@Filiz_Phys @FactsAboutTexas Not sure what your country of origin is, but I would think it would be easier since it German in origin.
English

@FactsAboutTexas Omg, as a foreigner, "pflugerville" for me. They teach me the correct pronounciation, and everytime I forget it. Once I called it Smurfs town :D Do not judge me!
English

@FactsAboutTexas Ennis. Not that it's hard to pronounce, My childish brain just wants to say pennis.
English

@izme_josh And, the poorest of the poor still have a higher living standard than the middle class in France. You know, we could have the same benefits as France if we would tax the middle and lower classes like they do. The billionaires don't have the funds to cover it.
English

And yet the French have a decent rail system, paid family leave, paid sick leave, a social safety net, 99% literacy, a younger retirement age, higher life expectancy, and so on
TBnews@TBNewsFr
🚩La France est 20 % plus petite que le Texas et compte plus du double de sa population. Pourtant, le PIB du Texas devrait dépasser celui de la France d'ici la fin de l'année.
English

@GarandThumb1 Marine rifle qual. 10 for 10 @ 500 meters X 5 years in a row. M16A2 service rifle with iron sites. Not particularly impressive but very consistent.
English

@HawgMedia @omgsidewalks That's how smart these people are. They don't have a clue what profit is. It's really sad TBH.
English

@omgsidewalks Then we won’t have any of those things cause then nobody will do it if they can’t make a living. You understand that right? Ppl aren’t going to do back breaking work for free. Why would anyone, that’s retarded.
English

@omgsidewalks The government has told us since the great depression that's what they are using your tax money for while asking for more every single year. And, in that time things have only gotten more expensive. So, I gotta ask, who's the one that's been hoodwinked?
English

@lady_valor_07 If miniseries count I gotta go with Band of Brothers with The Pacific being a close second. If not, I gotta with (in no particular order). The Simpsons, the Sopranos, and The Flintstones.
English

@davepl1968 As far as I understand it, it's the stater vanes that facilitate the compression.
English

OK, so here's the thing I've never understood about jet engines, maybe someone can explain it to me.
There's no "valve" between the compressor stage and the combustion chamber. So, unless the compressor stage is at a higher pressure than the combustion chamber, why doesn't it just backflow?
What makes it go out just the back instead of both front and back?
