The fire broke out in a four-storey commercial building near Glasgow Central at around 3.46pm, with reports of an explosion heard and large plumes of smoke seen across the area. Glasgow Central Station has now been closed, with all high-level train services suspended and trains running through the low-level line unable to stop at the station. Police have cordoned off Union Street between Gordon Street and St Vincent Street, and the public is being urged to avoid the area.
