cedar waxwings. even in the height of summer when they're one of nyc's commonest birds i'll stop to appreciate them, and if they come close enough for a good look then that's my favorite bird of the day basically regardless of whatever else i saw. they're an all-time great for me

Hyalophora cecropia, the cecropia moth, is North America’s largest native moth. Part of the giant silk moth family, females can have wingspans of five to seven inches or even bigger. Huge and stunning!
