"....wars had such a negative impact on our family and community. Of course we frequently paused and sometimes felt so empty, unable to explain what happened, as our society is still surrounded by untreated historical injustices...."
VICTOR OCHEN@Victor_OCHEN

To all of you wonderful humans, we received your warmest and loving birthday wishes. Thank you for your messages of love and blessings. We spent our 43rd birthday together with my twin brother Jack, reflected deeply with smiles, striking chill feelings and goosebumps; wondering how we even made it this far. Wars had such a negative impact on our family and community. Of course we frequently paused and sometimes felt so empty, unable to explain what happened, as our society is still surrounded by untreated historical injustices. Even with our new age we don’t pretend that we know it all, although we take different postures. We keep on learning, not afraid of standing up for what is ours, and what is right. Where we have to compete, we will. Where we have to forgive, we must. And, most importantly where we have to defend, we have no other alternatives. We love Uganda and Africa is too dear to us. It’s saddening to see the endless suffering of innocent people due to wars. Unfortunately, to some people, our gender, race and faith are reasons for cruelty towards fellow humans. May God help all of us live to see the world where parents won’t have to worry their children would be taken away. Where governments work not to enrich themselves, but uplift the weak and the poor in our society. To this far, we have endured, lost, won and most importantly learned from it and against odds we showed compassion Thank you people, looking forward to working together as we dare for better world Peace

@Victor_OCHEN gets it. He’s been a refugee himself, and the horrors of the Ugandan war are etched in his memory. But instead of letting his past define him, he’s channeled his experiences into a passion project - building an organization @AYINET,that helps war victims find peace and rebuild their lives. His story is a testament to the human spirit’s capacity for resilience and compassion. For decades, under the leadership of @Victor_Ochen, the @AYINET has tirelessly promoted Peace and Justice. The voice is loud & clear in his @TEDTalks on the intersection between war and climate change. Thank you @RockefellerFdn & @TED. “The night is long for a hungry child”
VICTOR OCHEN@Victor_OCHEN

Yes💪🏾 I am delighted to announce that my TED Talk was launched, it’s now live. In a special way, I want to thank @RockefellerFdn and @TEDTalks for making this possible. We’re discussing the “intersection between war and climate change.” I know dark clouds of war and poverty have been thick over Africa. We have to beam the light of peace for Africans who are battling the devastating effects of Climate Change. When we look ahead, work together with positivity, it won’t be long before peace returns to Africa. We want war to end - in DR Congo, Sudan, everywhere in Africa and the world. We want refugees to return home. To our iconic youth of Africa, you’re the present and future heros with unmatched skills. Stand up to end poverty. Be the household names in the fight against Climate Change. Bring precision and strength in building peace. The distance of our journey and sacrifice means our love for Africa never fades, embrace and hold on it. I welcome you to watch my TED Talk, please share, and let’s discuss what we can do together. @AYINET ted.com/talks/victor_o…

In 1991, then OAU which is currently the African Union initiated 16th June as the International Day of the African Child. This was acknowledge and honor black brave Soweto school children who fought for freedom during the apartheid era. It’s also supposed be the vanguard to raise awareness on the continuing need for good governance in Africa. But, one can hear loud cries of terror coming from many young people from across the Continent. Some are stuck in poverty, war, injustices; and worst being collateral victims of Corruption. Young people are exhausted trying to break free. Corruption is creating extreme survival conditions, and pressure is building which risk sparking yet another wave of uprising and protests across the Continent @AYINET @_AfricanUnion @AUC_PAPS

The Gov’t move to build Akii Bua and Hoima Stadiums to host @AFCON 2027 is wonderful. We have already started the training 😃 Importantly, infrastructures like roads, airports, medical and hospitality industry which comes with such preparations is key in transforming our country. Like our sister countries of Kenya and Tanzania, I believe Uganda too will stick to our commitments, continue with our preparations and deliver Akii Bua and Hoima Stadiums that meets @FIFA standards Not only is evenly distributed Dev’t is good, but hosting @AFCON 2027 is huge victory for our beloved country @UgandaMediaCent @KagutaMuseveni @OfficialFUFA @Educ_SportsUg @CAF_Online

Meeting with @mercan_resifi Hatice Cengiz (Khadija Changez), the partner to Jamal Kashoggi, the journalist who was killed at Saudi consulate in Istanbul. Some pain are just unmatched. If one day you find yourself with luxury of preventing or lessening one’s pain - just do it. There is no grace in willfully causing torment and suffering for fellow human - we all share just short time alive on earth. Khadija is strong, she is the true Voice of Tolerance and peace
