Counterpoint: it was a stupid question, in fact it was a drab insult badly disguised as a question, the kind of smug, asinine, lazy crap you get from BBCQT audience members who are cosplaying Jeremy Paxman, and the responses it got were far better than it deserved.
Kate McCann@KateEMcCann

I asked Robert, who asked 'is there nobody better than you two' what he thought of Starmer and Sunak's response: "They didn't answer the Q! How annoying is it, you ask a direct question and they don't answer... you could give them a right good go, it's just so infuriating!"

We've written to @Conservatives to ask them to remove the “Tax Check UK" rebrand of @CCHQPress. This misrepresents posts on the account as an impartial fact checking service. Voters deserve better.

I understand the novelty of Channel 4 hiring Nadine Dorries but we need to stop MPs being rewarded for inadequacy. You were a failure, Nadine Dorries. You're deserving of no one's attention. You were a shitshow without an interval. You’re an irrelevance. Go away. Thank you.

The British Green party opposing yet another rail project, demonstrating once again that it is completely unserious about decarbonisation. The Greens are far more united by Nimbyism than by any appetite for actually doing the things necessary to make the UK less carbon intensive

Reform UK plan tax cuts which they say will cost £70bn; however our analysis shows the actual cost will be at least £93bn. And their funding figures are out by £15bn+ All this means Reform UK have a total unfunded cost of at least £38bn - about two Liz Trusses.

URGENT! Pls share. The last chance to register to vote in the General Election is 11.59pm tomorrow Tue 18 June. Potentially 8m aren't registered at their current address. Here's 4 key facts... 1) You can do it online here registertovote.service.gov.uk/country-of-res… 2) It's good for your finances. Not being on electoral roll can make it more difficult to be accepted for credit products like bank accounts or mortgages. 3) You can opt out of the 'Open Register' (which allows your info to be sold on) which will stop you getting junk mail marketing ) 4) You'll need ID when you do vote (not to register) if you don't have it, you can get it free until Wed 26 June gov.uk/apply-for-phot…

Farage promised leaving the EU would solve all your problems, reduce immigration & save the NHS. He wasn’t telling the truth then - and guess what- he isn’t now.

Delighted to see the government has finally found £2.5bn a yeat to spend entirely on young people. More homes? Reduced tuition fees? Better mental health care? Reopening the youth centres? Investment in skills? Nope, they’re going to be forced to join the army or do some volunteering.

Cost of compulsory national service: £2.5bn a year. Cost of pay rise for junior doctors that ministers insist is “simply unaffordable”: £2bn a year.

Context for today's £28bn kerfuffle: The UK spent a staggering £265bn on energy in 2022 – the most recent data available – including more than £100bn on imported oil and gas alone Insulating homes + expanding domestic green energy supplies wld bring those numbers down…

Question that seems v pertinent and I have put to govt. if we are closing steel blast furnaces - partly in name of greener industrial processes - does argument for Cumbria coal mine (that it would supply UK steel industry) still stack up?
