Have you guys found ways to deal with bots on Product Hunt? What should you do if you encounter cheating founders? When we recently launched @flowmapp noticed anomalous activity again 😫 01/ 3 products at the same time (!) started growing wildly overnight. Sleepytales — Dennis Wang Syfly — @medlots BeeDone — @yelkamel (see chart) 02/ All 3 projects have 1 founder each. I thought maybe they have a large community of users and customers for support, but their social media is empty: 0 followers everywhere. I couldn't find the resource. 03/ @DatabuttonHQ was 2nd. Their support was excellent and organic, but were relegated to 4th place 😔 @martolini Have you seen that? Have you spoken to PH support? 04/ Syfly used automated spam mechanics under PH comments/launches. (I'll post screen in the comments) 05/ I see a lot of fake-comments under Sleepytales launch. (I'll post screen in the comments) 06/ Ex. CEO РН @ahiggz has made BIG changes in the fight against spam—bravo 👏 I believe that the fight continues, but it doesn't seem to be enough for a 100% fair fight. 07/ During launch I received TENS of offers to buy upvotes 🤮 (I'll post screens in the comments) 08/ Of course PH @ProductHunt support has not responded to my requests during launch day. 09/ When I launched @AaplyHQ , I had already encountered bots. We were overtaken by 2 cheat-products. Kudos to @ahiggz @rrhoover who listened to us, did an investigation and removed these products from PH 🎉 ✦ ✦ ✦ fyi @rajivayyangar @iamjasonlevin I know no one likes to talk about this topic, but someone has to cause I love PH community SO MUCH ❤️❤️❤️

🏀 18 learnings from building Saas Here are my takeaways from growing product to 320k users: 1/ Don't be afraid to ask people directly to test your product. 2/ Design will be even more important in 2025. 3/ Hire smart. 4/ Talk to users every day. 5/ Start social & communications asap, even before launch. 6/ Follow Product-Led Growth strategy. 7/ Freemium is a must. 8/ Onboarding is your infinite point of growth. 9/ Do not use paid traffic channels first (it leads to the wrong place). 10/ Organic and WoM are the best channels of effort. 11/ Don't be greedy. Your launch priority is retention, not revenue. 12/ Customer Support is very very very important. The fast one is a game-changer. 13/ Find mentors and advisors. 14/ Do in-house-only product marketing. 15/ No worries, bugs are normal 🙂 16/ Update → analyse → update. 17/ Develop an A/B testing system from the beginning ("flag-function"). 18/ Look for partners, find out their expertise. Hopefully this will be helpful to those who are building products right now. Keep going 🙌

How to talk to users 👨‍💻 01/ Start with email It's simple and easy. 02/ Customer support is your inbound source of feedback Put your support@email everywhere: landing page, product, email signature, onboarding, social media. This way users can talk to you first. 03/ Solve users' problem → talk Successfully solving a user's problem is a great moment when they are willing to chat with you. Use it! After helping users we ask for feedback, send questions, research their process and etc. 04/ What are your goals to speak to users? - Gather feedback. - Increase sales (!) - Feature requests. - Find conversion bottlenecks. - Understand how users see the value of the product. - Understand their pains and gains. - Improve your product strategy. - Improve the product. - Optimize marketing and communication strategy. - Understand the market. + many more 05/ Increase your conversion rate to "YES" How to increase opt-in conversations with users: - Resolve their problem in the helpdesk. - Personalize request (show you know who they are, what they do, what can be improved). - Give added value and reward them 👇 06/ Reward users Everyone values their time. Reward users for it. It doesn't matter if it's an email or a video call. It can be: discount, free subscription, extra period, assets. 07/ Obtain reviews proactively In addition to collecting feedback, be sure to ask for public reviews on platforms: @G2dotcom, @Capterra, @Trustpilot, etc. And for landing page testimonials. 08/ Collect results in ONE place Create a space to store the data you receive. The choice of tool is not so important: @NotionHQ, @MiroHQ, @figma, @googledrive, @airtable, etc. It is important to have all the data in 1 place for easy analysis. 09/ Share your findings Sometimes we share insights with the #buildinpublic community. Make a summary / publish the results / collect leads → these help your marketing. 10/ Talk to users inside the product Design questionnaires and surveys. Our biggest survey was with 16,000 answers 🤯 Use @typeform or similar (easy to integrate) or custom build pop-ups. 11/ Add video calls When you've built up enough knowledge, you can start offering video calls as well. You will be ready for them (data, questions, communication style). ✦ ✦ ✦ If you liked it, help spread my post → please like, comment, repost 💙 Thank you and let's do it 🙌
