The players called up for the Italian U16 national team training camp, which features some of the most talented 🇮🇹 2010-born include Farid Compaore, Mattia Sguazzin, Marcello Ajayi Ayomide, Hassan Brusamarello, Nicholas Conti, Diego Ilardi and Lewis Okadoh #scouting

There’s a lot of potential for this Italian squad long term, with some super intriguing physical profiles at a young age. Very interesting group to follow with a ton of positional size throughout

Italian U16 Generation might be the favorite to win U16 FIBA Eurobasket 2026. They have elite depth at the forward and wing position. Aaron Mathis is a solid point guard, creative shotmaker and flashy playmaker, able to emulate what his brother did in the last few years with U16/U17. Riccardo Manera and Luigi Nembri are good scorers but undersized, can evolve in solid 2°/3° league players but I think not more. Alberto Ursi is evolving into a great scorer at the U17 level, elite bucket getter on 3 levels, a bit undersized him, too. Gabriele Cappabianca showed good complementary guard tools in the last showing with the former U15 team, should be one of the top guards of the team. Nicholas Conti is a sized guard, creative off the dribble, potentially a good 3 level scorer and slasher. Pietro Cucco isn't playing his best season for U17 Borgomanero, but his tools are really impressive as a 6'8 wing, great passer with developed fundamentals. Nicola Gasparoni has a ready frame at 6'4, elite downhill scorer with solid outside shot, a scorer that can light up in a hurry. Diego Ilardi should be the lead guard of this supersized team, at 6'6 with body strength, he has elite vision, ball control and is already a solid shooter from 3 in different situations. Jean Paul Loundja is another solid wing prospect, athletic, strong and able to shoot the 3 off the catch; will be one of the most used off ball wings in the team. Lewis Okadoh is a defensive menace, elite shot blocker, on every passing line and with elite athletic tools. I don't think he'll become taller than 6'8, but has solid shooting skills (watch U15 National Finals) and face up slashing. Ayomide Ajayi is the new name for Italian basketball, 6'9 forward with wing skills and long arms, effective on both ends of the court, but needs to be more consistent on his flashes. Andrea Maggiorini is a 6'8 forward with shooting skills, a pick n' pop big that will develop into a reliable stretch forward. Limited athleticism means little NBA potential, but has European ceiling. Gabriele Furfaro isn't much of a big, he is a 6'6 forward, out of Vado Ligure playing for Derthona, who is finding space in 4th league. He is a jumpshot away to be another intringuing prospect. Considering that Italy has also 6'9 big Hassan Brusamarello, 6'7 wing Mattia Sguazzin and 6'5 wing Farid Compaore, this national team will be very intriguing to see.
