Today, we officially registered the vessel “Guney” (IMO 8230417) under the flag of the Federal Republic of Somalia. This marks the first time since the collapse of the state that a vessel has been registered under the Somali flag, symbolizing the revival of Somalia’s maritime authority and the renewed credibility of the Somali flag. This registration follows the completion of all legal and regulatory requirements necessary for a state to issue its own flag.
