Friends: I am not sure how my late father would feel about his son being awarded a medal commemorating the Platinum (70) Jubilee of a Monarch that he chased out of the Republic of Somalia in 1960. But I am happy that I was honored for service to the community on January 13, 2023.

I am delighted to announce my candidature for @WTO Director General. I believe that I have the skills required to lead the WTO at this critical juncture and bring WTO Members together. I look forward to engaging with all Members over the coming weeks and months.

#Somalilanders: congratulations on the 60th anniversary of independence from Britain. It is one of few days whose importance the Qaldaanis (Northerners), Wanlaweynis (Southerners), Unionists & Sovereigntists can agree on. Somaliland unionists & sovereigntists are at peace today.

We welcomed over one million Somali refugees into Kenya at the height of civil war in Mogadishu. Uganda, Tanzania & Ethiopia recognized Somali passports and admitted thousands of Somali refugees into their lands without visas. Saudis were at that time deporting them to Mogadishu.
