We also want to remind our listeners that Gaza has for many centuries been a centre of learning and high culture; was once famous for its wine, its pleasures and its Dionysian festivals; that it is a place of great wealth as the terminus of the Arabian incense route; and a city where people have lived and loved for many millennia.

This series on Gaza is both fascinating and tragic well worth a follow.

That is why we have decided to tell its story before it is too late. We want to remind our @EmpirePodUK listeners of the very long and often complex and violent history of the many peoples who have passed through and lived in Gaza and whose genes have contributed to the diversity of the modern Palestinian people who inhabit this threatened enclave.

This former Janjaweed commander ordered his men to "wipe out and sweep away" villagers in Darfur in 2003 and 2004. He personally supervised atrocities; and he clubbed civilian detainees with an axe, causing injuries that killed some of them, the court said in its verdict today.

Israel’s closure of four UNRWA schools in the West Bank has deprived 1,640 children of their right to learn and play. Palestinian children, like all children, deserve access to education—Israel is trying to steal that from them. ow.ly/GKZk50VwLhn

Israeli soldiers opened fire on three American children yesterday, killing Omar Mohammad Rabea. Our government's responsibility is to protect its citizens. Instead we're arming their murderers. Arms embargo now.
Drop Site@DropSiteNews

🚨BREAKING: Palestinian-American Child Shot Dead, Two Others Shot and Wounded by Israeli Forces in Occupied West Bank Omar Mohammad Rabea, a 14-year-old Palestinian with U.S. citizenship, was shot and killed on Sunday by Israeli forces near the West Bank town of Turmus Ayya, northeast of Ramallah. Two other Palestinian-American boys, aged 14 and 15, were also shot and wounded—one in the abdomen, the other in the thigh. Both were taken to a nearby clinic in the village of Abu Falah, PRCS told reporters. The Israeli military acknowledged that its forces opened fire on three children who were standing near a road adjacent to the town. A video released by the military shows the teenagers appearing to throw an object. In a statement, the military claimed it had “identified three terrorists who were throwing rocks at a highway with civilian vehicles,” and that Israeli “fighters fired at the terrorists, killing one and wounding the other two.” The military reportedly seized Omar’s body from the hospital and is still withholding it. WAFA also reports that Israeli forces delayed ambulance crews from reaching the scene. The killing comes amid a sharp rise in settler and military violence across the West Bank. While the Biden administration had previously sanctioned a handful of violent settlers, those sanctions were rescinded by the Trump administration, which also recently approved the sale of over 20,000 U.S.-made assault rifles to Israel—a $24 million deal previously delayed over concerns the weapons could be used by extremist settlers. The shooting took place a day after Palestinian Children’s Day. Ramallah and al-Bireh Governor Laila Ghannam said the targeting of the three children reflects an ongoing pattern and policy of Israeli state terror—killing Palestinian children and attempting to eradicate the Palestinian people. More than 200 children have been killed in the West Bank since October 2023. And in Gaza, Israel has killed more than 500 children in 20 days since resuming its genocidal assault on March 18, 2025.
