Ken Griffin paid a 5.3-million dollar mansion tax for the privilege of buying his home. Mamdani says that’s unfair… because it’s not enough. Truly amazing.

It’s funny that those who want to “eat the rich” define *rich* as anyone who earns slightly more than they do at the current moment. However, once they earn more, the definition of *rich* will quietly slide up. See Bernie Sanders for details.

Government doesn't create wealth. It redistributes it. Usually badly. Usually to friends.

Too many “intellectuals” blame “the market” for problems actually caused by The State interfering with the free market process.

It isn’t billionaires. It’s the principle that individuals have a right to produce, trade, and keep what they earn. Billionaires are just the most visible target. Start there, and you normalize the idea that success is a liability. Once that principle is accepted, it doesn’t stay confined. It moves downward. And there’s a practical side you’re ignoring. In a free system, you choose who you deal with. You can walk away. When power shifts to bureaucrats, that choice disappears. You deal with them whether you want to or not. So no, it isn’t about defending the rich. It’s about rejecting a system where your rights depend on who has political power.

Canada ranks dead last in GDP among the G7 members, while economies such as South Korea, Australia, and Spain are close to surpassing it. So why is Canada still in the G7?

Mamdani thinks food is expensive because grocery stores make a profit selling it. But the profit motive and competition are why grocery prices are so cheap. They’d be a lot cheaper without Fed-created inflation or government agriculture programs that increase the cost of food.

This country is an absolute disaster. 1 million government jobs, private sector and entrepreneurs decimated. 1 trillion dollars in capital fled, massive brain drain fleeing to US, companies exiting. And get this. They just got a F’in Majority!? 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

For the record it’s as asinine when Republicans do it as when Democrats do it (and more hypocritical). Again, let’s stipulate that corporations (and mom and pop businesses) are always trying to set prices to maximize long-term profits. If they can raise a price without killing demand they will. If it’s easier to raise prices at some times than others, that’s usually the government’s fault. Yelling at corporations (or mom and pop) for acting optimally is just stupid. But at least it’s bi-partisan stupid. We need more bi-partisan stupid so we can all come together more.

In 2021 our portfolio company Fridge No More raised $19M and opened 49 stores in NYC, employed 300 people and was able to deliver goods to your door in under 15 minutes, paying above minimum wage to couriers (they were actually so happy with their jobs they offered to work for free when the company couldn’t get funding). Unlike Mamdani’s store they had to pay rent and taxes. This is $387K per store including all the R&D, CapEX, and a central processing facility. Somehow when a socialist politician is trying to do that it’s 100x more and takes 3 years. Remember my words it will not end at $30M. Very soon they’ll ask for more.

Mayor Zohran Mamdani that the first city-owned grocery store – which carries a whopping $30 million expected price tag – won’t open until 2029. trib.al/zJEMm8D
