4/ We urge Kazakhstan to oppose the testing of nuclear-capable missiles on its territory. As a country where nuclear weapons were tested, Kazakhstan has contributed greatly  to the #TPNW, particularly in victim assistance, and should remain in full compliance.

3/ Under the TPNW, it is illegal for a state party to allow its territory to be used for the testing of nuclear-capable missiles, as this amounts to assisting a state to develop nuclear weapons, which is prohibited under article 1(1)(e). #NuclearBan icanw.org/the_treaty

2/ We condemn Russia’s ICBM test which comes against the backdrop of repeated threats to use nuclear weapons in recent months. These tests, as well as others conducted recently by North Korea and the United States, are irresponsible and further increase the current tensions.
