So, a human finding art and learning from it should always ask consent before doing so first? Does that actually happen? Of course it doesn't. And my burger analogy fits better here. One joint watches you make a burger then decides to use the same process, without asking you. Then another one does the same, but you don't like him, so you claim that he stole from you, even though it didn't. It just learned from you, there is a different. Nothing was taken from you.

AI is just a tool and will not do anything unless a human inputs a command, and that is the BASIC systems of AI, it gets far more complicated when you go into ComfyUI set-ups where you actually need some programming chops to get that shit to work, like anything else, it is a tool. And everyone plagiarizes from everyone, this isn't new. A human learns from anothers artstyle, is that plagiarizing? No? Why? Cause a human did it? It's the same thing.

It is a service industry. Let me propose a scenario for you. I decide to go to a family-owned burger joint. I go there and the owner doesn't like the shirt I am wearing and kicks me out and refuses to serve me. Does he then get to complain because I go to McDonalds instead where I can get my burger and not be judged? They are free to blacklist whoever they want, but they then don't get to turn around when people choose the option that is easy, free and non-judgemental. Everyone has learned something I spent 3 years learning my craft, you spent 3 years doing yours. And if I want to make a AI-generated image for an RP character I wrote, then what does it matter? I am not selling the art to anyone, and as stated, it isn't theft as you claimed it is. I am just using it for myself to have some fun. And when I like a character enough to make them a main one, I commission actual artists to get art made of them, as I did with the guy in my PFP, and like 10 other pieces of art I commissioned over the years whenever my christmas pay comes in, because again, artists are expensive as fuck. But when you act like this, well... you lose clients and you only have yourself to blame for it.

You can whine about it all you want, fact is, that 'artists' no longer have a monopoly. They aren't able to act like self-entitled morons anymore, because now? There are options. I am not against artists as a whole, my art in my PFP WAS commissioned, I do not mind commissioning artists that aren't a fucking pain to work with, who DON'T charge like 300$ for a bust, and who aren't judgemental assholes. It has become competive because now people have the choice to get the service from a person, and that person may be better, do some actual good art and will actually do good work... or you deal with an asshole who blacklists you, and then you just get it done with AI cause fuck that guy in particular. Believe me, you are not the first people to go through this, and you will not be the last, heck, this isn't the first time the art sphere went through this. Artists whined about photographs being considered art, Artists whined about digital art being considered art, this is just the next step in the evolution, and it will end the same way, those who refuse to adapt, choke and those that do simply use AI for what it is, a tool and use it to improve their craft. Tale as old as time.

1. GenAI isn't theft. 2. All you are doing is setting an arbitrary line in the sand, and I refuse to abide by it. Both AI make lives easier for people. I doubt 90% of these VTubers would know how rigging works with VERY old programs, but we give them a pass for using AI programs that make rigging easier? Again, it is an arbitrary line, both things remove a giant hurdle and make the chosen system easier for someone who may lack the skill to do it. One just benefits you, the other does not.

There is no AI art. We need to stop using that term. “AI generated imagery”, or something like that can work if you don’t want to call it slop. But it isn’t art. Semantic, sure. But it’s an important distinction.

Ai is absolutely being forced everywhere! You can’t avoid it in most apps. It literally interrupts you when you use Google Sheets, taking up a chunk of your screen. Apple Intelligence is shoved in your face. Bosses are demanding their workers use it.
