A friend locked me in a room and bet me to read 60 papers on robotics in 48 hours! :) I won the bet, I always win. Everything from VLAs, world models, dexterity! The aim was to get a good technical taste for where robotics research is right now.

Introducing step . parts, an open source directory of 12,000+ STEP parts for your next CAD project Many CAD tools like Autodesk have huge closed libraries of standard mechanical and electrical parts The goal is to build an equivalent catalog for the open source CAD community

Here's the link boys. Also, please recommend me more papers to read, obviously won't read as many in a day haha, but would love to read more good ones! :) #gid=0" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d…

@Andrey__HQ I feared retention would make the whole thing worthless, so I asked a 5.5 to constantly quiz me on every paper, in very depth right after reading, and a bit shallower but still detailed when reading other papers. I do plan on going back and reading a bunch of papers again haha

@dexbtw_ @mohitwt_ It wasn't a consistent one per hour, a lot of papers were really easy, like the panopticon studio paper. Flow matching eg. despite arguably being a simple concept took me about 2 hours + multiple YT lectures to grasp. Especially the derivation.

@AdalricP @mohitwt_ how is this just not a waste of time? reading at least one per hour for 48 hours straight. or maybe you already had very expansive prior knowledge and didnt need to think too deeply about stuff? curious

@dexbtw_ @mohitwt_ Agree that it's terrible for retention - this was just for a bet haha, I plan on re-reading quite a bunch later. I have spent a lot of time in labs as a kid, and have a habit of reading tons of papers in much tougher physics & rl domains so I'd guess that helps.
