Genuinely everyone I've ever admired for their academic ability has been taking modafinil or amphetamines. I always find out like a decade later

@usr_bin_roygbiv Because you end up only reading the conclusions and not fully understanding the theory behind it. You get slogans to shout but you don’t really understand what you’re shouting about. It’s superficial knowledge.

I'd be willing to bet a zoomer who has been using gpt for 3 years every day 8 hours a day has a higher level of general knowledge than 99% of boomers from their entire lives

@usr_bin_roygbiv is there actually anyone that uses ai that much? the only ones are professionals who are most definitely not expanding their worldview using ai

if you had to give a commencement speech to graduating college seniors what advice would you give them in times like these is there any broad-based, time-proven advice that would help them navigate our current times i don't think so

@ben_golub @fedjudges almost certain a 50% score on these detectors should be ignored. especially for court documents which are written so mechanically

Introducing Zero The programming language for agents. I wanted a systems language that was faster, smaller, and easier for agents to use and repair. Explicit capabilities. JSON diagnostics. Typed safe fixes. Made for agents on day zero.

@SouthernWintrs lowk i don’t see whats wrong with p4’s post. to me it seemed like a lighthearted poke at decker. and to be fair, decker’s resume is pretty ass. could easily fit all that into one page, make it cleaner

The only times I've encountered this poster is when he is being gratuitously mean and nasty. I'm not the biggest Decker fan, but is this really necessary?

@hamstertub Sometimes i really wonder if i actually have intrusive thoughts or if I'm just a genuinely disgusting person. All the horrible things i think about don't even affect me anymore, it's just who i am. How do i know im not a bad person when all the thoughts i have are bad. 🫪

4.0 GPA requires so much sacrifice for very little tangible output. Past 10+ years I've been severely underperforming when it comes to grades, but I never knew a single person IRL that had more experience than me. Started with Steam CSGO low float skins bot snipers, was really into crypto, I remember being the only guy into configs and vim, because the thing was very niche that many years ago, I was 15 so I wasn't around programming people, I started making my own games/apps, ultimately I decided on web-backend, just to land my first job as a frontend engineer. People with 4.0 didn't even know how to use git in production properly (group project were my own personal hell in uni). All this to say, 4.0 people generally only cared about grades and everything else, any practical knowledge or whatnot fell short, was borderline embarrassing. After kinda dropping out of CS, I started working as an arborist for a year, toughest job I ever had, but I had so much fun. Finished my degree and NOW, I'm making goddamn watches. I hate using the word agency, but 4.0 people are lacking it so fucking much. They just don't step out of line, and is the reason why they won't make it.

> bro applied to +200 internships > got 1 unpaid offer, did it for 7 months > is graduating with a 4.0 GPA > did full stack large-scale web dev > did research in an AI lab HE CANNOT GET A JOB. “even if I did get a job I’d be wrangling with AI 1-2 years until you have AIs that can wrangle themselves and I’m not even useful anymore.”

I don’t understand why people compare C++ and Rust, what could you possibly be working on where those are your two best options. Order books? Search engines? Compiler for your new programming language not yet capable of bootstrapping? Be honest, that’s not you

it looks like an AI alliance is gradually forming between SpaceXAI, anthropic, tesla, google and cursor. its incredibly beneficial to all parties involved: > google gets cheap access to space + infinite energy > anthropic gets 300MW of inference compute > spaceX gets $5-10B between anthropic and cursor deals > cursor gets a leading coding model from the compute both google and anthropic have now publicly announced intentions to use SpaceX to launch ai data centers into space in the last week Google owns 7% of spaceX and 14% of anthropic so it makes sense
