1/7 A thread on some changes in topics in my X posts. For 10 years, my X account was devoted to only patents, innovation, tech & science. I am continuing these posts, as I did today with a post on the anniversary of #patent issuing on Tupperware in 1954. But more is required now.

The American left went from "punch a Nazi" in 2017 to "elect a Nazi" in 2026. That was quick.

@Razorback_LPC Agreed 100%. Graham Platner knew exactly what it was and is when he proudly wore it for two decades. Everyone knows this Nazi SS symbol. The Totenkopf was the central topic of an entire famous comedy skit 20 years so by The Mitch and Webb Look called, "Are we the baddies?"

There is much truth to this. Time Magazine portrayed Trump as Hitler (recreating style of well-known photo of Hitler with Trump on its cover). Pete Hegseth was accused of being a Nazi given a Christian cross tattoo that is also sometimes used by white supremacists. Republican polticians are regularly accused of being Nazis by Democrats. This accusation, for instance, was repeatedly made against Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush. Now the Democrats have a candidate who had an actual Nazi SS tattoo on his chest for two decades, praised Hamas, etc. And now the Democrats are like: "Whatever, nothing to see here."
pragmatometer@pragmatometer

The Platner tattoo story isn’t about Platner. It's about the people who spent years calling everyone on the Right a Nazi for the slightest association, only to line up like rank-and-file partisans behind a Democratic Senate candidate who wore a literal SS Totenkopf tattoo for 18 years. It's a story about how years and years of moral indignation from the Very Serious People™ class proved to be a paper-thin veneer over your team jerseys.

You don't get to twist and warp "justice" when you are praising the student Brownshirt thugs you helped unleash on the world in support of nihilistic, barbaric atrocities and genocidal Jew hatred. You are the exact opposite of justice - you are a Nazi in academic garb just like Joseph Goebbels was who also claimed he was seeking "justice."

Yesterday I had the pleasure of addressing the graduates @UMich commencement. I spoke about the long history of student activism, which has moved the University toward justice. Here is a video. It has caused a furore on social media & in UM admin. youtube.com/watch?v=iu0xsQ…

@jonfavs @mkhammer I was assured that a fascist salute proved someone was a Nazi even if they didn't have the "Totenkopf" chiseled into their chest.

@jonfavs @mkhammer Graham Platner *praised* Hamas - modern Nazis in their pursuit of Jewish genocide in today's world. QED. Keep digging the hole for yourself, Jon Favreau, because you're helping make the case for how craven you've become - or how fundamentally antisemitic Democrats now are.

I don’t know, you strike me as someone smart enough to know that a good test as to whether someone is sympathetic to Nazis is if they’ve ever said a single word in their entire life that could be construed as sympathetic to Nazis. But I guess the story you’d have us believe is this: a group of American marines, who risked their lives for this country, decided to get skull and crossbones tattoos together in their 20s that they all knew were Nazi symbols. Then they all kept their actual Nazi sympathies hidden for the next decade, a time when Platner frequently took his shirt off in front of his Jewish family, who I suppose either didn’t care about his Nazi sympathies or didn’t recognize the symbol you claim is extremely obvious. And then Platner, who was clearly not shy about expressing all kinds of views on Reddit, especially all the offensive shit he now regrets, somehow managed to keep his Nazi sympathies hidden from the world, as did his Nazi-sympathizing Marine friends who got the same tattoo. Yes, this makes sense. You cracked it for sure. Bravo. Congrats on being smarter than all those rubes in Maine who’ve fallen for the secret Nazi’s cover story.

I think if one is trying to figure out if a candidate is sympathetic to Nazis, one of the most important tests is whether the candidate knowingly got a death’s head tattoo signifying an elite, brutal group of SS officers and kept it until the second he wanted to run for Senate and someone noticed. It’s an insult to everyone’s intelligence to suggest otherwise. Sorry, his Medicare thoughts from last week are not permanent body art or absolution.
Jon Favreau@jonfavs

As the community note makes clear, I didn't delete it because I stand by it. But if MAGA world has decided their best play is to insult Mainers' intelligence by trying to fool them into thinking Platner's old tattoo makes him a Nazi sympathizer, best of luck in November!

The Graham Platner tattoo controversy is not about youthful mistakes. It is about the specificity of the Totenkopf. This is not the widely recognized swastika, it is the specific insignia of the SS units that ran the Nazi death camps. This is the symbol of the executioners. This is the symbol of the men that murdered 10 million men, women, and children. These men murdered the babies. For a self proclaimed military history enthusiast to wear the literal badge of Holocaust executioners for 20 years shows a level of understanding and admiration that cannot be explained away. People tattoo on their body WHO THEY ARE and WHAT THEY LOVE. The Democrats are so desperate to flip a Maine Senate seat that they have abandoned every moral red line they once claimed to hold. They have proven that winning at any cost is their only conviction and the Holocaust is just a cheap political prop to be weaponized only against their opponents. This is not just a betrayal of their voters. It is a total moral collapse.

The intellectual and moral rot runs very deep in American universities. So does the moral cowardice of academic administrators when they're asked about or reveal their real beliefs. We saw this in spades in the House hearing two years ago run by Rep. Elise Stefnik (@EliseStefanik). Read her new book on this topic, "Poisoned Ivies."

False. He got it covered up before the story. When he revealed the new chest tattoo to a local main media affiliate, it wasn't wrapped up, it wasn't moisturized, there was no red irritation or scarring as is typical with freshly new tattoos. He covered it up weeks or months in anticipation of the story was going to come out and then only then showed off the new tattoo. Which means, he knew what it was and knew this was coming.

Ann Arbor, Michigan. While many people think Palestinian propagandists abuse the term Holocaust to draw attention to what is happening in Gaza, that is just a symptom, not the reason. The root reason Palestinian nationalists abuse the term Holocaust so often is because they would love to deny the Holocaust and vindicate the Nazis who they were allied with in WWII. That is the cause. The symptom is the use the term Holocaust and Holocaust related to terms to describe Israel and everything that is happening in Gaza.

More antisemitic photos emerging from Ann Arbor. They're also wearing the keffiyeh, so there's no confusion what their agenda is. Interesting how they're minimizing or denying the Holocaust while advancing their cause.

UMich President Domenico Grasso praised the graduation speech until the backlash hit. Now he’s scrambling to apologize. Leadership shouldn’t depend on which way the wind blows. Donors: stop funding schools that tolerate radicals like Derek Peterson who incite violence against your kids.

At today’s University of Michigan graduation, Professor Derek Peterson thanked anti-Israel protesters for 2 years of campus chaos. Turning a commencement speech into a political rant like this is grounds for termination. Sickening.
