Looking through old photos during #lockdown my dad 2nd left with his swagger stick and men of 2nd Royal Welsh Fusiliers believed somewhere in Egypt, the same stick is on display in my man cave museum @BritishArmy@DanHillHistory@TheRoyalWelsh#history#ARMY
@AdamScragg@Ally_Sutherland Now I was toying with a shire council winter duathlon, esp as I have a very good road bike now (as good as an aluminium one can be). Much more achievable
@LanganRunner@Ally_Sutherland I’m not sure because I was pretty out of it for chunks of the run 😂 I’d guess maybe as much as 50/50? I ran the first 7 and last 3 properly and the rest was a mix. It was a 5:10 marathon when I was probably in 3:30/3:40 shape for a stand-alone run
@LanganRunner@Ally_Sutherland The training commitment is what stops me doing another one, the day was amazing but it’s a huge time suck for at least 18 months beforehand.
@LanganRunner The swim just takes a bit of preparation. Fleet Feet do fantastic swim training, they can get anyone up to a good standard I reckon. You may as well start planning your entry now 😬
@LanganRunner I heard that people try and swim over the top of you, I was worried about that, they did try it a couple of times but I discovered that I was quite happy giving them a discouraging kick or two to make them back off 😂
@LanganRunner I honestly found it fairly easy, the wetsuit is really buoyant and drafting people makes a massive difference too. It was far easier than doing it in the pool. I swam a lot when I was younger though so I’m comfortable in the water if not particularly fast
@drpetrie48@thesundaytimes It’s absolutely an abuse when it prevents travel within the UK for UK residents and citizens based on an arbitrary line. The infection rate in Cumbria will differ from the rate in London, the same way the rate in Glasgow will differ from Grampian
English holiday-makers crossing the border into Scotland could be told to go into quarantine for two weeks or face a fine if cases of coronavirus rise again #Echobox=1593334723" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">thetimes.co.uk/edition/scotla…
@Michex69@thesundaytimes Nope, they have their current powers because of the Coronavirus Act passed by Westminster. This is all a matter of public record. A quarantine that discriminated against another part of the UK would be far outwith existing Scot Gov public health powers.
@Waltendo214@dohtcareahy@thesundaytimes Well I suppose we’ll see who’s interpretation is correct if the Scottish Government ever try to implement this. My guess is that they won’t even try.
@AdamScragg@dohtcareahy@thesundaytimes Also schedule 5 was majority based on traffic and trade, so itll actually be under a seperate act for emergency and public health. Easy mistake, some parts of each act actually work with each other so its not as black and white as i think you are reading it.
@Michex69@thesundaytimes If that’s a route the Scottish Government want to go down they would first require Westminster consent - which is not impossible but highly unlikely to be forthcoming in my view.
@Michex69@TallAndFirey@thesundaytimes that’s an incorrect interpretation, the current restrictions are only possible because of powers granted by Westminster under the Coronavirus Act. The powers under that Act will not permit a devolved administration quarantining arrivals from other parts of the UK
