Statement from the Spokesperson of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) In recent media appearances, the leader of a political party made unfounded claims regarding the existence of a "dual administration" within the Kurdistan Region. Furthermore, he presented a series of misrepresentations concerning rumors about the delivery of American weaponry. It is well-established that the Kurdistan Regional Government is a constitutionally recognized federal entity, built upon the sacrifices of our martyrs and the long-standing struggle of the people of Kurdistan. Despite persistent attempts to impose a "dual administration" reality on the region, we will not permit such efforts, and they are destined to fail. Regarding the allegations of weapons being provided by the United States to a specific Kurdish party, the leader of the aforementioned party is attempting to absolve himself of responsibility by accusing others, while his media outlets engage in a systematic campaign of disinformation. If the Americans have provided weaponry to any party, they are fully aware of the recipient. The truth will inevitably be revealed to the public, sooner or later; there is no need for such deception. The leader of this party has no legal or official standing to speak on behalf of formal government institutions. Completely baffling to hear a Kurdish politician utter these words. Not sure why he feels compelled to feel “shame” and apologize to Arab countries for the illegal and bellicose behavior of rogue Iran-controlled militias. And his promise of mending ties with Iraq’s neighbors and restoring Iraq’s sovereignty is just as difficult to grasp. He did not launch the attacks; the militias did. The militias attacked the Kurdistan Region far more than they targeted Arab countries. He needs to condemn them in strong terms not apologize for their behavior especially since he cannot rein in the militias. How can he restore Iraq’s sovereignty and ensure other states and Kurdistan will not be targeted by the militias again?
