@wearetherace There's a reason Sky moved on from these guys. We should all do the same.

@sydney_ev Because batteries are heavy (sometimes thousands of pounds), they consume a significant portion of the total allowed weight. This means electric trucks have a lower payload capacity than their equivalent internal combustion engine counterparts.

i get told a lot EVs wont work for trucks, they drive between cities, they do, vast majority of truck trips never leave the urban environment. If we can make this fleet #EV, there will be more than enough fuel left for the long haul uses, and farms. Cities will be far cleaner.

@OverlyTrev You can take out number 2. I only ever stop at stations that are on my way. There's 0 additional drive time needed.

There is a huge misconception when people claim it only takes 5 minutes to fill up a gas tank versus charging an EV. Here are the key considerations: 1. The typical time spent at a gas pump is 8–9 minutes, but it varies: - Circle K: 8.9 minutes - Sheetz: 11.5 minutes - Wawa: 11.4 minutes - Buc-ee’s: 20.3 minutes 2. Filling up requires driving to the station, which can take 10–45 minutes depending on your location and the nearest station. 3. Oil changes and maintenance take time and money (even if you do them yourself, you still have to buy oil and perform the work). EVs eliminate this entirely. 4. Home charging takes seconds to plug in, and you wake up to a full charge the next day. 5. In March, I spent $9 on electricity while current gas prices are $3.49/gallon—a savings of over $60 in fuel for the month. 6. Adding up time and money saved over a year comes to roughly 15–30 hours and over $750, and I don’t even drive that much. EV’s save you time and money and once you have one you’ll never go back to gas.

@GigWorthy01 @OverlyTrev I know, if you like your EV great, but is it worth setting up social media accounts to talk about it all the time?

@SportmphMark I did read the piece, that's why I was referring to the type of passes, rather than the volume of passes.

The figure is actually about 1 in 13, so a pretty good proportion of the other 12 in 13 could manage perfectly well with an EV. Why do people always come up with niche use cases to support their case?
Emperor@_JamesSteward_

@disco___cat About 1 in 10 families have a caravan or camper trailer. You won't tow them far on battery power.

As a huge fan of public transport, I do wonder if sometimes the future isn't trams or trains ( in the US) but tens of thousands of low emission, ultra cheap, self driving cars Sometimes acting as dynamically routed buses, if they costs can't come down through scaling enough

So let's fast forward to 2 months from now. The war in Iran is long over and that terrorist nation is no longer a threat. Hamas and Hezbollah have been wiped out.  Gas prices have fallen below $2 a gallon. Stocks are back to their all-time highs. With the Iranian threat gone in the Middle East investment pours into the area. Rebuilding starts in Gaza. The US economy takes off as all of that newly onshored business starts hiring. And once again Democrats have nothing. I'm feeling pretty good about the midterms. Thoughts? ⬇️

🚨 NEW: Elon explains Universal High Income and gets called out by Peter Diamandis 😂 ELON MUSK: “We’re going to have Universal High Income. We’ll basically just issue money to people. We’re going to have deflation. AI and robots are going to make so much stuff that they’ll run out of things to do for the humans. Money will stop being relevant at some point in the future. DIAMANDIS: “So just as you’re becoming a multi trillionaire money starts to have less value?” ELON: “Yeah pretty much.” 😂 😂 😂

How come brown and black people in western nations are called immigrants, but white people in Dubai are called expats? Haven't come across a single instance so far where the terms are reversed.

@nickofnz Until the sun shines at night or someone gives me a free battery, most of my energy usage will still come from the grid. Even though I generate more than I need in solar.

🚨WOW: West Elementary School in Alabama has become the first in the United States to install ballistic pods in classrooms. The $60,000 rapid-deployment room sits in the corner of each classroom and can expand in just 10 seconds to create a bullet-resistant shelter for students and staff. It’s designed to protect against active shooters as well as severe weather events like tornadoes. Is this needed in every school?
