Is that @edgarwright just hanging out in the audience watching movies like everybody else at the TCM film festival?

@untiloasis I'm generally pretty good about predicting how the audience will respond to a movie, but I walked out of that one on opening night and literally said, "There's no way anyone's gonna not like that." By far the most wrong I've ever been about an audience response to a movie.

Since Rise of Skywalker closed the Skywalker Saga in December 2019, Disney has announced at least 10 new Star Wars theatrical films. Zero have made it to a theater. The one that finally broke the streak is a $166 million repackaged Disney+ TV season. Rian Johnson's trilogy, Benioff and Weiss's trilogy, Kevin Feige's film, Patty Jenkins' Rogue Squadron, Taika Waititi's project, Damon Lindelof's Rey film, Steven Knight's Rey film, Guillermo del Toro's Jabba movie, James Mangold's Dawn of the Jedi, Dave Filoni's Mandalorian team-up film. All announced with press releases. All dead, parked, or delayed. Then Lucasfilm did the simplest thing possible. They took what was going to be Mandalorian Season 4 and moved it to theaters. The budget is the tell. $166 million, per the California Film Commission. Rise of Skywalker cost $416 million. Force Awakens cost $638 million. Even The Acolyte, the Disney+ show Disney canceled for being too expensive, came in at $230 million. The Star Wars theatrical film restarting the franchise costs less than the Star Wars streaming show they just killed for costing too much. The math only works if you understand what broke. Disney paid $4 billion for Lucasfilm in 2012 planning a Marvel-style theatrical engine. When Rise of Skywalker landed badly with fans, they pivoted. Star Wars was moving to Disney+. The Mandalorian was the anchor. Disney+ then ran up $11 billion in cumulative operating losses before reaching profitability, and Iger called the aggressive streaming push a mistake in 2023. So now the flagship Disney+ show is the movie that has to restart theatrical. A TV cast. A TV director. A story originally planned as a streaming season. Running a summer window against Mission Impossible and Marvel. What you're watching in that trailer is a $4 billion acquisition, six years of aborted directors, and a collapsed streaming thesis all being carried on the back of one puppet baby.

@thamieverywhere @itsssthulsss You're making your arm look like something it's not in order to trick the fish into latching on, then you've caught them. Much like tricking people through texts on online profiles into thinking you're something you're not, then you've caught them. Hence, catfishing.

@thamieverywhere @itsssthulsss That's what they said it meant in the doc, but that doesn't make a ton of sense. What seems far more likely is that the term comes from catfish noodling... Dangling your arm in the water and large catfish bite and then you catch it that way. 1/2

@Adamhall12 I don’t disagree with the sentiment. I’ve seen some good answers over the years. I would suggest this isn’t one of them.

Pool Reporter Response from the match officials about the Penalty Call on Garces in the 65th minute of the game: "After review, LA Galaxy #25 Garces committed a foul on NYCFC #7 Nico in the penalty area while challenging for the ball which denied an obvious goal-scoring opportunity.  There was no foul contact prior." #LAGalaxy #MLS #LAvNYC

Having the halftime show for your biggest game of the year in a language almost none of your lifelong fans can understand, while waving the flags of countries that none them are from, is the biggest fuck you that I’ve ever seen a corporation give to its own consumers

@GalaxyPodcast So last year we got INTL slots for 200K each for the whole season, but this year it's 225K for half the season? Either there's big time inflation on INTL slots, or this was a bad deal.

@RaiderAntonioJ @GalaxyPodcast Puig is a big if. But given how important he's been, I don't think you can cut ties with him now. If Klauss works and Riqui comes back strong, we're good for a minute. If not, Klauss is gone, Riqui leaves and we have an open DP spot. It may not work this year, but I'm optimistic

LAGALAXY NEWS: 1. Riqui Puig has been placed on the Season Ending Injury list. This frees up a Designated Player slot. 2. The Galaxy have acquired 28-year-old Brazilian striker João Klauss from STL for $2.375 million in cash. Klauss is under contract until the end of the 2026 season. #LAGalaxy #MLS

@RaiderAntonioJ @GalaxyPodcast To be honest, I think it's kinda perfect. Would be hard to find a deal that worked out better given the circumstances. Remember Dejan only scored 6 goals in 32 games before he started getting service from Paintsil and Pec. Klaus did better with lesser wingers.

@RaiderAntonioJ @GalaxyPodcast I don't think we were getting a legit DP to come for 1 yr. So next year there's an issue with 4 DPs. We needed a striker for sure. This way we get one who's been DP quality in the past, if he works out, next year he's TAM and we keep the Killer P's. If he doesn't work, he's gone

@RaiderAntonioJ @GalaxyPodcast He had more goals + assists than any of our DPs last year on a team that was just as bad as us. So I feel pretty OK about it.

MLS is truly insane. How do you go from being the champions one year to being the worst team in the league the next… and nobody bats an eye? No relegation, no real consequences, no pressure. Anywhere else in the world, this kind of collapse would be a national scandal. In MLS? It’s just “oh well, that’s the price you pay to win.” Sorry, but that’s not football. That’s a country club. In real fútbol, titles don’t buy you immunity. You can’t go from the top to the bottom without paying the price…whether that’s the coach getting sacked, players getting shipped, or the club being punished with relegation. Here? The champions get to stink it up, collect their checks, and fans clap along saying “worth it.” Fútbol isn’t supposed to work like this. There should be consequences. There should be accountability. Otherwise, what are we even watching? #MLS #Futbol #Soccer #DiceElDani #SoccerTwitter #MajorLeagueSoccer #Relegation #FootballCulture #InterMiami #LaFamilia #LAGalaxy

@MD_DFW @DiceElDani Which pro rel top leagues are you watching that don't have a small handful teams who are always a potential winner and a ton of other teams that have no chance? I watch and enjoy all the other leagues for what they are, but I like the parity in mls and wouldn't want to lose it

@Adamhall12 @DiceElDani Outdated excuse especially since every other soccer league doesn’t have the silly rules of MLS and still sees a diverse set of winners. MLS is so hard to watch sometimes because the talent is so bad

@CorsicanFiend @DiceElDani I'd love for the Galaxy to win twelve in a row. But I don't think any of the other teams fans would enjoy it much. And it'd get pretty boring for me too, because it doesn't mean much if no one else has a chance.
