@snow_nft I hadn’t thought about this use case but I feel better knowing I’ve always included my artist name in the description of every work I’ve minted. 🤝

GM folks ✌️ imagine if every NFT platform disappeared tomorrow and all that remained were the smart contracts and the art tokens in collectors' wallets, would anyone be able to identify the artist by name? Apparently not. The blockchain can tell you which wallet minted or created the artwork, but unless the artist's name is embedded in the metadata, there's no reliable way to know who that person is. I think every minting platform should treat artist name as a first-class metadata field (or at least encourage creators to include it in the description), ofcourse it can be optional, if some artists would not want their names on-chain for some reason. @manifoldxyz already does preserve artist name in metadata, so does @SuperRare. I couldn't find it on @TransientLabs or artworks minted on @objktcom in tez chain. I haven't checked other platforms yet. While building a custom gallery for myself, I realised I had to rely on @opensea and objkt APIs just to resolve an artist's name. That information shouldn't live exclusively on a Web2 platform, it should travel with the artwork itself.
