I lack respect or sympathy for those complaining the RBA misled them. The RBA was very clear that the interest rate projection was conditional. Anyone who wanted certainty could have fixed their rate. Millions did. The complainers gambled and lost and now want someone to blame.

The average punter refuses to recognise that if a house becomes valued at say $1.40 million because fixed mortgage rates are 2.50% then when rates reach 5.00% the house value necessarily becomes $700,000. Simple arithmetic that those over 55 were taught in junior school.

There is broadly only 1 reason why house prices are so high in Oz: lack of supply. Demand driven “solutions” just drive up prices. The majority of voters are home owners so feds and states don’t want to address supply & have lower prices.
