@Rolex_Xmen Then how did you think they're going to build a 5th prototype for Tejas MK2 with that engine? Unless you want them to redesign the whole airframe to accommodate a different engine, building such a prototype isn't possible. It would become a different aircraft altogether.

It's better to swallow a bitter pill now and accumulate experience and develop industry than to fully rely on them.

Russian jets are no less capable than any other jets but they're a headache to maintain, just take Su-30 as an example. It is unreliable.

@CopiumState @ji_2nd55621 Yep, ICD sharing isn't confirmed yet, if they don't even share ICD I don't know why the IAF has bought it. But Brahmos NG ground-level engine and design validation work has already been completed. The flight test is expected later this year.

@xGirthQuakex @JaidevJamwal I think you're right. Matching China's numbers would be a fool's errand given the gap and the status quo. But we should at least maintain comparable strike and defensive capabilities on the eastern theatre. Getting too complacent now will cost us later.

@JaidevJamwal Bigger, stronger force is always nice but against PLA, a baseline credible offensive/defensive posture suffices given the geography. Matching them numerically is a fool's errand. OTOH, overwhelming superiority (quantity, quality) is imperative against the Pakis.
