No trees, more heat urban roads trap extreme temperatures. Green cover cools naturally; the difference is not small, it’s survival.

@akshaywcam1 Because Jungles in central India shed leaves in summers & wild fires are also quite normal. But, some interiors of Satpuda range still remain cooler throughout an year. While plantation, tree selection is also v important

Coming soon. Kala 2: Dharavi Liberation. Rajinikanth, freshly recharged from his annual Himalayan 'spiritual' retreat, descends from the mountains to rescue Dharavi's irreplaceable syncretic slum culture from the genocidal bulldozers of Hindutva real-estate fascism. Anirudh provides the hip-hop resistance anthem. Director Pa. Ranjith provides the lens through which basic urban infrastructure becomes a caste atrocity. The climax said to feature Rajini smashing a miniature model of a rehabilitation colony while the suppressed, oppressed, repressed crowd erupts. Meanwhile, in the real world - Dharavi redevelopment gathers pace. Mumbai begins its biggest housing makeover. 641 acres. ₹95,700 crore. Asia's largest slum going vertical.

@prasannavishy Accurate. In Jewar, the private builders have already bought most land parcels on both side of Yamuna eway although UPEIDA did procure some large land banks. That stretch alone will house over a million people before we hit 2040.

Navi Mumbai International Airport transforming Raigad belt As an interested observer, do feel one recurring mistake in Indian urban thinking is treating infrastructure as a response to growth. In reality, it is the primary driver of spatial and economic reconfiguration. Here. Airport anchor business districts. These, in turn, induce residential demand, which then pulls in retail, social infrastructure, and logistics. Urban form follows the infrastructure spine. Maharashtra is also planning a full BKC-style business district in this region. Dubbed Mumbai 3.0, it is envisaged as a next-generation urban cluster being built from scratch around connectivity infrastructure rather than retrofitted into an already-choked city.

@InsightGL Lowest petrol/diesel prices are not a measure of strength, it's a political decision. Keeping prices low doesn't magically make us strong, we are still importing and subsidizing it. Kuchh bhi likh dete ho.

Another example of the difference between low crime and high trust: Singaporeans do a thing they call “chope-ing”: They snag a table by placing their iPhone or purse on it, then go wait in line. This is low crime, low trust behavior. It’s something anti-social you have to do because if you don’t chope a table, someone else who walked in after you will take it. In a high trust society, you just wait in line and everyone sits down on a first-come first-seated basis, no one cuts ahead and takes a table before they need it. Singaporeans chope because it’s a way to take advantage of their low crime society to engage in low trust behavior.
Roman Helmet Guy@romanhelmetguy

High trust doesn’t just mean low crime. Only 35% of Singaporeans say most people can be trusted. That number is 83% in Sweden. That’s high trust. Singapore can’t even have trial by jury because jurists always sided with their co-ethnics. It’s low crime, not high trust.

In an epic admission, after TMC leader Anubrata Mandal said that the party could hardly win 15–16 seats in the first phase of the elections, TMC’s Sagardighi candidate Byron Biswas has now declared that he is going to lose. He also listed the names of TMC candidates (including sitting MLAs) who are likely to lose. He further stated that the central forces managed the election extremely well, leaving the party with little chance of winning, and added that he has no idea how TMC will perform in the state overall.

This was not just a roadshow in Howrah. It was a Triumphant crossing of the Hooghly. Those who have read history would know what this means. Since Mamata Banerjee is unread and thinks ‘Epang, Opang, Jhopang’ is high literature, I’d request Sagarika Ghose to explain it to her.

@somnath1978 Sure, but the OpEx can be calculated based on electricity rates alone. Probably be cheaper going forward if solar build-out continues apace and domestically manufactured BESS start coming online.

India’s civilisational openness key to future leadership: William Dalrymple at EPFO’s RGDE Season 2 on Civil Services Day Marking Civil Services Day, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) inaugurated Season 2 of Reimagining Governance Discourse for Excellence (RGDE) lead by PDUNASS with a keynote by historian and author William Dalrymple, reflecting on India’s long arc as a civilisational connector of ideas, trade and culture. India’s historic strength, Dalrymple argued, lay not in conquest but in the movement of ideas, an openness that allowed it to shape civilizations across continents. Reclaiming that spirit, he suggested, may be central to India’s future global role. Challenging conventional narratives of the “Silk Road,” he pointed to evidence that places India at the heart of ancient global exchange. Trade patterns, including the concentration of Roman wealth along India’s coasts and its absence further east, indicate that India functioned as a key intermediary linking the Mediterranean world with Asia. @PIB_India How does the pervert @DalrympleWill whose entire work is centered on whitewashing Mughal atrocities in India get to wield such influence in 2026? Do we not have qualified Indians to speak of the country's civilizational arc that we need a foreigner to speak on the subject
