Photon to electron is the fastest, shortest, cheapest, non moving parts, no maintenance, path to energy. And you never pay for the fuel. I have no idea why even brilliant minds are blind to the fact that transforming chemical energy into electric energy requires so much dependency on additional systems that without subsidy, it makes no sense to do it if you have any other choice. Solar is nuclear - for the inevitable m...n that will comment that nuclear is the best - yeah, show me your nuclear reactor in your backyard.

If subsidies are the test, wind and solar lose. They exist only because government props them up. Fossil fuels don’t need a life-support machine, but “renewables” can’t breathe without one. This isn’t an argument against subsidies. It’s an argument for force: ban the energy you don’t like, shower handouts on the ones you do, and pretend it’s “cheaper.” It’s not. When subsidies and restrictions are stripped away, the market doesn’t choose wind or solar. It chooses what actually delivers, nuclear, hydro, and reliable fuels. If the goal is affordable, abundant, reliable energy, let every source compete without favoritism. The winners won’t be the ones that need endless bailouts.

Non-Sequitur, but it just occurred to me as I read this: Why don't we use the over abundance of the power generated during the day with solar, or wind, to pump water uphill, into a reservoir? Then, when its nighttime, or not windy, you let water out to turn a generator there? It's so obvious. Why do I constantly feel like I live in a world of idiots? I mean, granted, I just thought of it. But still... it's not my job to figure out how to do their job. Instead, they'll what? Dig up the Earth and go to war to secure the minerals for batteries? We have a battery already. It's called gravity. This is like 1800's level knowledge. I don't get it.

Even the harshest communist regimes had to smuggle in scraps of markets just to survive. Pure capitalism has never existed because it’s not allowed to. The moment freedom rises, collectivist ideology attacks it. Through envy, entitlement, and the ballot box, people vote away liberty in exchange for promises of control and loot. One system fails because it’s impossible. The other fails because it’s forbidden.
