@AdithCharlie A lot of shop keepers allow calls from their phone, particularly if you have purchased something from them. Have experienced this need (and local shops support) near temples where you are not allowed to carry phones. To call the driver… similar need outside visa consulates.

Me thinks it is time to bring back PCOs at public places for public good. Not as relics of another era. But as basic safety infrastructure. One might run out of mobile battery. One might be an international traveller whose phone refuses to work on roaming. (continued in comments)

Yes, there will be misuse. So the likes of @airtelindia , @reliancejio , @VodafoneIdeaIN and @BSNLCorporate should build in basic guardrails. Short free calls. Limited repeat attempts. Redial support for genuine failed calls. Usage limits to prevent 1person frm occupying kiosk.

The first one minute on every kiosk should be completely free. No coin, no UPI, no card. Just pick up the handset and dial. For calls longer than a minute, use a coin, tap a card, or buy a small prepaid token from the helpdesk. Keep it simple.

Dear @IndiaPostOffice, My passport (Speed post; tracking no: PP203833851IN) was despatched on May 1 but never made it to Kalamboli PO (per delivery pin code) but went to Kamothe PO. Now it shows the passport is in Thane NSH. I am told there was a labelling mistake by India Post.
