Yesterday I attended an event to help adopters think about what they could offer and what they needed to consider. Heard so many great stories about positive training and support. Also got to hear some horror stories that made me rather cross!

Delivering day 1 of prep training and thrilled with how busy the room is and how progressive the thoughts are. Such positive discussions around contact and identity. :-)

Just arrived at the Early Permanence and Modernising Adoption conference for the day. Really looking forward to the discussions.

Just about to launch our LGBTQ+ & Allies group for the evening, tonight we are discussing contact, historic approaches and new concepts. Really looking forward to the chat.

@MrAlCoates I totally agree, a lot of my research has shown that buddy systems aren’t being used nearly enough when they can make such a huge impact.

@Sallypmce @AdultAdopteeMov How do you know how my son feels? It would appear you are assuming he HAS to feel exactly the same as you. I think much has changed in 56 years which was needed, but with those changes the lived experiences also change. Perhaps you could listen to young adoptee voices??

@AdoptionAdvent1 @AdultAdopteeMov Yes, you're hearing from me, an adoptee with 56 years of #livedexperience. Do you invite adult #adoptees in their 50s and older who know the lifelong impact of adoption to share that with you or only a youngster who would feel unsafe without your approval?

Little Dude has asked to come to my prep training and talk from an adoptee’s perspective and support adopters through their journeys. Super excited to have him with me for the day.
