Let’s leave aside the fact that you’re playing semantics here and we both know it, you have just admitted that we in Ireland are not exposed to footage of other conflicts in the world in the way that we should be. Why is it that we have seen the war in Gaza more than we have see the war in Ukraine when it is on our own continent? In addition, Hamas terrorists filmed themselves indiscriminately butchering civilians while whooping with glee and screaming ‘Allahu Akhbar’. A quick search and you can find barbaric October 7th footage that includes attempted beheading of a Thai worker with a shovel, and men debasing the lifeless, contorted body of Shani Louk on the back of a pickup truck. For some odd reason I don’t see any Irish people saying these are ‘the worst things we have ever SEEN’, when if we are talking about atrocities that we have SEEN, they arguably are. I have watched the unreleased footage of the October 7th massacre. It was the most horrifying thing I have SEEN in my life - it still gives me nightmares. Nonetheless, it is not the worst thing the world has seen in living memory. By any objective measure that was the Shoah.

People who encourage non-compliance with law enforcement orders are putting lives at risk. If I were an armed officer and a person ignored my lawful orders and began driving in my general direction I wouldn't hesitate to shoot them. Sitting in your living room, you can claim that she was trying to drive away. An officer has neither the luxury of time, nor the luxury of doubt. He wants to go home to his kids and if you confront him, ignore his orders and then start driving at him, you will get shot. If you want to change the law, get involved in politics, don't confront law enforcement, don't ignore their orders and you'll be just fine.
