@AdrianSpalding Companies that pay below minimum national wage for the countries they serve Adrian. International maritime rules mean some operators choose to do this, as it minimises their costs. But of course they shouldn't.

President Jean-Marc Roué has pushed hard for steps to prevent a race-to-the-bottom in ferry sector pay. Now the Assemblée Nationale has unanimously supported a law that would block French ports to low-wage ferry companies. We support this & are working hard to persuade others.

@BrittanyFerries It is reassuring that such employees on channel ferries will have to pay at least the minimum wage of either France or UK, assuming UK follow suit. Having been a customer of p&o for the best part of 30 years I have never travelled with them since they sacked everyone.
