This is why there were pieces of glass in the van they hauled Charlie away in and why they had to pour several feet of concrete over the murder scene. There's probably still remnants from the explosive on the row of hats that were in front of Charlie. They then blew up the Accurate Energetic Systems a month later to cover up all the evidence and killed 16 people in the process.
