Why are men always okay with doing nothing for their birthday?

What is something nobody from 1990 could have predicted about today?

Our hearts bleed with the families of the victims and all those affected by Gender-Based Violence (GBV). There is no reason why anyone should lose their life to violence, and I extend my deepest condolences to the families of GBV victims. GBV remains one of the most pressing challenges facing our nation. It inflicts profound harm on individuals, families, and communities, undermining the very fabric of our society. As a new government, we have prioritized addressing GBV, understanding that it requires a comprehensive, collaborative, and sustained approach. Currently, law enforcement, the justice system, and the health sector provide immediate support to victims and their families through police facilitation. However, we acknowledge that more can be done, as GBV is rampant and evidence shows that new interventions are urgently needed. The Ministry of Gender’s top priority in the new year will be to engage extensively with stakeholders to develop new policies aimed at ending GBV. As a government that upholds human rights, we believe addressing inequality will also play a key role in tackling the root causes of GBV. Our country is rooted in peace, community, and compassion. We must dig deeper within ourselves and restore the dignity that once formed the foundation of our communities. We must reconnect with our values and break the cycle of violence. I believe that with combined efforts between the law and self-restoration, we can achieve peace.
