You are correct and I assume that he will now probably go that route. But what I find surprising is that the ANC (and others) seem to be resisting the move to get telco companies onto EEIP. If one looks at the companies that were granted approval to use EEIP, they are from various sectors, eg. ICT, manufacturing, construction, agriculture, maritime, automotive & financial services. The question I have is: why did they exclude Telco companies? I suspect that it is something to do with the ownership of some of the telco/mobile companies in South Africa. They could have allowed them to use EEIP a long time ago, but for some reason they kept them on 30% BBBEE ownership. I am sure that if one digs deep, it will come down to money and beneficiaries.

We warned him; “unfortunately, he chose to be legally delinquent,” says Parliament Communications Portfolio Committee chair Khusela Diko. This followed Icasa striking down Communications Minister Solly Malatsi's hopes of securing Elon Musk’s Starlink by introducing equity equivalent investment programmes as a substitute for broad-based black economic empowerment. @Dzungie007 What did the ANC Ministers of Home Affairs do for 30 years? The problem of illegal foreigners and porous borders was around for all that time and the ANC did sweet nothing to resolve the issue. At one stage, they could have even changed the Constitution, but they did nothing.

@LeratoPillayZA That's how BBBEE corruption works. That is why we need to stop BBBEE and let Government do its own direct procurement for many items that they request through BBBEE tenders. Its a scam and we all know it. South Africa will save billions.

@Derek_Hanekom Ramaphosa is now also battling his own demons. The problem is with the ANC. It started with the arms deal and never ended. As they say, money corrupts, and we have seen it clearly with the ANC.

@DailyInvestorSA I agree with this approach. The problems is that the ANC is clinging onto BBBEE for their own agenda. They don't care for the 8m-12m (expanded rate) unemployed people. The focus should now be on employment not BBBEE.

If she is still going to be in Parliament, removing her from being a Minister counts for nothing. If she committed any action that made the President remove her as a Minister, then it does not make any sense to still allow her to be a member of Parliament. She needs to be removed entirely from Parliament. Removing her as Minister is only half the job.

Madam Speaker, Honourable Members,   On the basis of various reports in the media and representations in Parliament, I requested the Minister of Social Development to furnish me with a report on thesematters.   I had a discussion with the Minister and gave her an opportunity to set out her case.   Having considered the submissions made by the Minister and mindful of the conduct expected of Members of the Executive, I have decided to remove Minister Tolashe from the position of Minister of Social Development in terms of section 91(2) of the Constitution.   An announcement to this effect was made by my office earlier today. #RamaphosaQandA

Does not matter. It's BBBEE that is enabling it. Fraud, inflated pricing, fronting, corruption in and out of Government, "middle-man" cuts; etc. Whether its white-owned companies or black owned companies, the problem lies in BBBEE - it opens up a lot of possibilities for people to manipulate the entire system. And that is exactly what is happening. We see it every day.

Question and Answer sessions in Parliament are once in a blue moon. For a country with so many issues, this makes no sense. Our Government is way too static. We need to start seeing an urgency and agility from Government so that problems can be tackled dynamically. All we see is questions and answers and then nothing. Parliamentarians argue and waste the public's time while the issues still continue unresolved, eg. crime, unemployment, corruption, poor service delivery. So what is the point of Parliament if they cannot resolve critical issues?

BBBEE is now synonymous, to a large degree, with corruption. Over inflating of prices in BBBEE tenders is common practice. We have seen whistle bowers being killed and a lot of mafia style tactics being used when it comes to large BBBEE tenders. There are also many Government employees involved with BBBEE tenders and fraud. Its time to end BBBEE and focus on unemployment. The ANC seems to want to cling onto BBBEE for reasons of their own. Why are they not tackling unemployment with the same energy?

No one cannot actually say that. All we know is that unemployment is sky high and the ANC wants to keep enforcing BBBEE, instead of focusing on unemployment. Why is the ANC so preoccupied with BBBEE, while 8m-12m (expanded rate) of people are unemployed? Surely, this calls for drastic measures which should also include removing BBBEE, as it could well be an impediment to growth. The costs of BBBEE should be redirected to employment. No international company has racist laws in their HR policies. Why must they be forced to enforce racist laws in South Africa? When international companies want to start up in South Africa, any racist type of law is going to raise eyebrows. BBBEE has wasted a lot of taxpayers money through corruption/tender fraud/inflated prices, etc. It needs to go. Our focus should be on employment, not on enriching a few ANC-connected people.

Why do these questions have to be scripted? The President should also start doing what Trump does. Have daily briefings or at least 2-3 a week have media sessions. We need to see dynamic leadership. That is sorely lacking in Government. A good example is unemployment. This issue has been around for decades, yet we are still in the same place (even worse now) and we don't hear or see any urgency from the Presidency. By now, we should have had targets and performance measures being tracked for the relevant Ministers and Departments. The Presidency needs to really get to grips with unemployment & provide daily feedback to South Africans. South Africa cannot afford to have 8m-12m (expanded rate) people unemployed for years while politicians debate and talk about it. We need action.
