Kolkata, West Bengal: On the matter of the West Bengal University of Health Sciences, representing the students, Advocate Sayan Banerjee says, "Several BMLT and BPT students admitted to Gandhari College allege that despite paying ₹3,000–₹3,500 for registration, the West Bengal University of Health Sciences denied them registration, citing lack of Joint Entrance clearance. They have approached the Calcutta High Court seeking permission to sit for the exams. Justice Biswajit Basu has summoned reports; the next hearing is on August 19..."

#WATCH | Kolkata, West Bengal: On a public interest litigation (PIL) petition related to the alleged gangrape incident that happened in South Calcutta Law College, Petitioner Advocate Sayan Banerjee says, "We have identified certain irregularities carried out by the state of West Bengal in various colleges throughout the state. There was an earlier affidavit that clearly shows no student council or student union currently exists. All the unions are in a defunct condition. However, the victim girl's complaint clearly states that the incident took place in the student union room of South Calcutta Law College... A different annexure also shows that student union fees have been collected. Both student unions are currently defunct, but some students or alumni continue to manage and carry out functions in the student union room. The court should take notice, provide clear direction, and issue an order to shut down all student union rooms, including those at South Kolkata Law College, until further notice."

Kolkata, West Bengal: Advocate Sayan Chakraborty filed a PIL in the Calcutta High Court concerning the Kolkata gangrape case He says, "Public interest litigation, the grievance was very clear that the incident was occurred as perused by the written complaint which was lodged by the victim girl, that the incident was occurred at the student union room..."
