"It was clear and obvious when we saw it from that angle" 🎥 Howard Webb breaks down the use of VAR in Leandro Trossard's disallowed strike against Leicester City 🔎

I think the furore of the VAR decision (correctly) going our way is that it happened in a game that mattered. If we weren’t playing for anything, no one would really care because 1) it’s the correct decision and 2) it wouldn’t mean anything in the wider context of the league.
But it does mean something. So people are outraged. Cool.
The multiple grabs and pulls around the box going on DO happen all the time, so it’s harder to prevent. Grabbing a keepers arm to stop him from claiming a ball DOESN’T happen all the time, and does directly affect the game, so the ref basically has to punish THAT foul. I don’t think it’s that hard to comprehend.

@_BrianMurphy_ @DaleJohnsonBBC There’s a reason you aren’t showing the video, because it shows no foul by Saliba

Biggest VAR call ever? Four chaotic minutes that may define the season for Arsenal and West Ham.
If it takes that long, can it really be clear and obvious? That is the wrong way to look at it.

@_BrianMurphy_ @DaleJohnsonBBC Standing next to the keeper is very different from pulling their arms when they are about to catch the ball
English

@DaleJohnsonBBC We're splitting hairs by trying to differentiate between different holding offences.
1st game of the season it started with Arsenal vs Man Utd where they impeded the goalkeeper and the goal stood.
These infractions come in many forms and need to be stamped out of the game asap
