If you haven't read this article, you need to. Plex sent 120 remote employees to Honduras for a Survivor-themed retreat. $500k budget.
- CEO ignored "don't eat the vegetables" warnings, got E. coli from a salad, spent the week on an IV nailed to his bedpost while the retreat he planned happened outside his window
- First challenge was eat whatever's on the platter. One guy lifted the cover and found a dead tarantula. He ate it. "Pretty horrible, not going to lie. Those hairs."
- Navy SEAL drills on the beach in 100 degree heat. One employee landed on a fire ant hill in shorts. Medical staff had no antihistamine pills, only injectable. They shot it into her butt cheek.
- A porcupine fell through a shower ceiling onto an engineer. "I called the front desk. I said, 'there's some sort of large rodent thing here.'" Hotel came, grabbed it, left.
- Island day trip. Small planes. They had to get 100+ people back before dark because the runway had no lights. They didn't make it. Stranded overnight, no runway lights, one employee receiving a stranger's IV, all of them in matching tank tops.
Nearly a decade later, most of them still work together and still talk about it.
$500k couldn't buy that.

“ I paid off my student loans like three months into The Pitt, and that was a really profound moment ‘cause I thought I was gonna die with it. It’s a huge burden to carry, and a lot of people carry it. I was $80,000 in debt and I had been through a series of failed relationships where my financial insecurity was a real problem. I had just thought that was going to be my life forever, and that is a really heavy thing to live with. Paying off those student loans and getting back to zero, I remember being like, Man, if this show works, great. If it doesn’t work, they can’t take that away from me. I am out of debt. It gets worse. This weekend after seeing the video, a veteran criminal defense lawyer (with no cases in this guy’s civil court) wrote this judge an email telling the judge he needed to apologize. The judge responded by accusing the lawyer of making an ex parte communication and ordered him to appear next week under threat of contempt.
I’m a member of the Harris County Criminal Lawyers Association “Strike Force,” a group of several lawyers tasked with defending lawyers against judicial overreach at a moment’s notice. We’ll be there to make sure this judge does not try to jail a veteran lawyer just for exercising his First Amendment rights in criticizing an elected judge’s behavior.

when i was 4 or 5, my mom was a prof at a college and she used to hand me the scantron sheet before she wrote the exam and let me colour whatever lettered bubble i wanted for each answer. if i coloured two by accident, she made an 'all of the above' option. one time she gave me it and i coloured the 'a' bubble for each of the 130 questions except for the second last one and she just went with it
later on, she told me that it was the most entertaining exam she had ever watched her students take
