We solved the chicken and egg problem at Uber by doing 3 things: 1. Paying drivers hourly until we had enough riders 2. Positioning cars in busy areas for faster pickup times 3. Encouraging riders to refer their friends And then the growth flywheel really started to spin.

Today, Uber is a $140B company with more than 6 million drivers. But in the early days, we had to overcome the same chicken and egg problem many startups face: Without drivers ➡️ riders couldn’t get a car And without riders ➡️drivers couldn’t make $ Here’s how we solved it:

Meet Tunde, and his wife Gbemisola🫱🏾‍🫲🏿 They’re highschool sweethearts and co-run their family business together. They have 3 kids and live in the busy area of Gbagada in Lagos state.

They have a wonderful life but no children even though they want some and have tried many times. This is what really sours their seemingly perfect situation 💔

Meet Julius Obi and his beautiful wife, Asisat. Julius has an amazing rags to riches story where, against all odds he became a wealthy real estate developer in Lagos State. Asisat is an engineer who worked up the ranks at Shell to become a regional manager in Lagos State.

AfroPunk is for everyone, African or not. The goal is to share the African culture with the world👑✊🏾
