@amuse Is she the one who needs an „expert“ biologist to determine what a woman is?

SCOTUS: Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson told the Court that presidents should not be able to fire the PhDs & experts who run the government. She even argued presidents should avoid control over transportation & the economy.
In a remarkable exchange in Trump v Slaughter, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson claimed the president should have no power to fire expert bureaucrats. She said economists, PhDs, scientists, & transportation officials should operate beyond presidential reach. Such a view would carve the heart out of Article II & cement rule by permanent insiders rather than elected leadership. Jackson’s theory elevates the deep state over the voters who choose a president. That is a constitutional revolution in plain sight.

@APosener Oh, “Leftistas” — relax, it’s just a microdose of your own medicine. Years of cheerleading Cancel Culture, sharpening the moral guillotine — and now that it drifts into “Assassination Culture,” suddenly it’s a bit too much? Please. Overreaction is basically your middle name.

OK, #Trumpistas: You've got #Colbert's scalp, now #Kimmel's. You want to revoke the visas of foreign correspondents you don't like. You're purging national #monuments and #museums of critical content and defunding universities. Just don't accuse #Europe of stifling #FreeSpeech

@_Chris_Coghlan You are not really catholic.
The priest did what is right.
English
My Catholic Priest publicly announced at every mass he was denying me Holy Communion following the assisted dying vote. Children who are friends of my children were there. This followed a direct threat in writing to do this four days before the vote. 1/3 observer.co.uk/news/national/…

@_Chris_Coghlan @calvinrobinson Well, obviously you are not really catholic 🤷♀️.
English
My constituents didn’t know I was Catholic actually @calvinrobinson , as it shouldn’t be relevant. Naively I believed (believe) in keeping religion and politics separate and that we should be a secular country…

@MedienfuzziShow Eklig, dieses stäbdige „Krallen in die Kamera halten und rumfuchteln“. Warum machen das all diese gestörten Narzisstinnen. Es ist als wollten sie einem das Hirn rauspulen.

@Knesix My question is the woman on the right waiting for Macron to leave the plane has a blood injury on her left shoulder. I wonder if his father Brigitte hurt her in the plane. I wonder why she's bleeding on her shoulder, anyone else noticed that?

@Anne_de_Cologne @mfjlewis @Fallen_Beret Germany is frightening. After confession (I was the only one), the priest started bashing Eastern European parishes for being "too strict" on abortion. He expected me to applaud. Pushback needed! I felt horrible: a priest in need of confession himself.

In Germany the clear majority of trads are normal guys *who go to mass at all*. You will always find fringe crazy people (in NO as well). But many trads will go to reverent NO as well. In my town, there is a pool of people who will attend TLM, a traditional NO parish, the opus dei parish and the cathedral likewise.
The TLM parish is the most diverse I've EVER seen in Germany, concerning ethnicities as well as age and socio-economic status and though there is certainly a majority that is politically conservative leaning it's not homogenous at all.
And as to why many people here *flee* to TLM even if they are not into liturgy or Latin or tradition but simply to stay Catholic: When I visited the parish I belong to for the first time, the priest had invented (yes!) all the prayers, printed them, and the parish had to pray those invented prayers instead of those for the Sunday. Then there was a baptism and the children of the parish should come forward, stretch out their hands over the baptismal font and bless the water together with the priest. I went there four times, three times of which were Protestant services up until shortly before consecration. The only time the prayers were those of the Sunday was when a Polish priest celebrated. And I won't talk about the sermons.
Would I enjoy attending daily mass in a normal parish church ten minutes from my home? You bet I would! But as there isn't daily mass in my normal parish church and as such masses as there are come with a high risk of being mostly invented by the parish priest, I go where they want to give me Christ. It's simple.
This is the situation in Germany in one of the few dioceses that actually have a theologically sound bishop - imagine what it's like in Limburg.
