Marco Solarte ’21, an Ecuadorian immigrant who joined the US Navy to afford his dream of becoming a world-class engineer. Marco also worked for the Veterans Services Offices, mentoring other veterans and helping them realize their dreams of higher education.

Nathaniel Lies ’21, an Eagle Scout and National Merit Finalist who led the first cohort of Materials Science and Engineering majors at Texas A&M. Following his father's passing, Nathaniel found support at Texas A&M and was able to lessen the financial burden on his family.
