There's no data that I can show that will convince you. But sure, let's go: 1. Medical racism: Lower life expectancy, 14% more likely to receive underestimated pain levels, 10% lower rates of vaccination, 10% lower hospital admittance rate, 2x higher infant mortality rate(1/16)
Nuno Sá@nsanba

@Aheffy @benjamingaines @DrIbram Show me reliable had data on this and I'll agree with you.

@Tjonesonthenba Glad you mentioned Bron. I think his longevity is making people forget how unstoppable and dominant he was.

@JonesOnTheNBA You are, of course, correct on this. I was more speaking to the overall perspective by Kuz (and others) that the owners are getting one over on the NBPA. Franchise valuations ballooning disproportionate to player salaries could be one point that supports that hypothesis.

This CBA wouldn’t be the reason for franchise valuations going up. Players still get the same split of revenues as before. Revenues going up via new media rights deals and eventually expansion and NBA Europe would cause overall team valuations to go up. Now if the CBA cut players share like the 2011 CBA did, that would help boost valuations. But that’s not what happened in the 2023 CBA.
Aheffy@Aheffy

@JonesOnTheNBA I agree with your overall point. I’d also be interested to see how much franchise valuations have increased since the last CBA was signed compared to player salaries.

This is another fallacy. Gambling is less than 1% of NBA revenues. That’s why players are pissed about being bombarded by fans pissed off about gambling outcomes when they aren’t even benefitting from the gambling uptick. And before you say it’s the TV partners making all of the money, it’s also a tiny sliver of ad revenue for TV partners. The only argument for gambling financially helping players is that it helps get more engagement and viewership, which helps all the other areas of the business. But it is not direct cash to players via their salaries!
Chris Bernucca Made A Big Trade@ChrisBernucca

@BobbyMarks42 So in 8 years the increase is 58 pct. Since salaries are tied to BRI, That has to be the gambling revenue.

@HuddleLair His outcome range is still huge. This is a massive season for him. I hope he shows enough that we can get him on a favorable extension.

@Rookie_Lanoue @JoshEberley I’d say it was more controversial than it was polarizing. Not too many were supportive of it other than GSW fans.

@HuddleLair If he can make that little mid range turn around jumper his go-to, he’s going to be an all star. That move alone is essentially unguardable, especially at 6’11”

NBA should adopt the rule where the player can step out of bounds as long as the ball stays in. I like it.

I don’t know how the Jazz would pull off getting him and I don’t know why Houston would give him up, but we need to figure out a way to get Steven Adams.

@getsit To me, it feels like leaving the current Jazz for the Lakers would be like leaving a fun early startup company with a really good team and good vibes and great amenities for a boring corporate job with shit culture but lots of prestige. I know what I’d pick, but 🤷‍♂️

I don’t blame Walker Kessler for making the decision he did (I wish I could go to the beach and look at the sun every day. I also can empathize with feeling concerned about your role at work) but I think it’s going to end up being the wrong career decision in the long run.
