Across the world, vital work towards improving women’s rights is stalling. We must not allow the progress made over the last century to be undermined.

Today, at the Liaison Committee meeting, the Chair, @SarahChampionMP, asked the Prime Minister to set out his vision for global development following the recent cuts to the ODA budget from 0.5% to 0.3% of GNI (Gross National Income).

The government’s decision to cut aid to unprecedentedly low levels is short-sighted and damaging. Increasing defence spending is right, but doing so at the expense of health and security risks to the UK, on the backs of the world’s poorest is, plain and simply, wrong.
