Today, we were honoured to welcome @EngJonard, Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation, to the AirQo lab at @Makerere. We shared how locally designed #AirQuality monitors and data platforms are helping African cities close critical data gaps and strengthen evidence-based action for cleaner, healthier air. At #DSA2026Kampala, our team shared how IoT and low-cost sensors can capture data in the field and enable automated workflows from the point of collection. The session demonstrated how locally designed sensor systems can make it easier to collect, transmit and process data supporting solutions designed for local needs and conditions across Africa

Proud to share The Kampala Experience at the Africa Clean Air Forum 2026 in Pretoria, South Africa. @KCCAUG now leads Africa in transparent air quality reporting with 134 monitors across the city. Despite average levels of 39 µg/m³, within Uganda’s national standard, we are determined to cut this in half by 2030. Our capacity & commitment have earned Kampala the National Environment Sustainability Award, a Guangzhou Innovation nomination, and 1st African City to be inducted into the International Network of Tree Cities, for our amazing 5,705 trees per SqKm I am convinced that pollution knows no borders. Clean air must be a shared responsibility.
