Meet Simon. In 2010, I found him on the streets at just 6 years old, passionately sharing my campaign flier—despite being deaf and non-verbal. With his father’s blessing, I took him in and supported his education at Kabasanda School for the Deaf and later Namirembe Vocational School, where he trained in carpentry. Today, Simon is sharpening his skills through apprenticeship—focused, disciplined, and ready to work. I’m sharing his journey in the hope that someone will give him an opportunity to prove himself.

Life can be painfully mysterious. Yesterday at 9:35am, Hon. Nakimuli’s message came through—full of purpose, calling us to meet today over the Sovereignty Bill. Hours later, at 5:37pm, the same space carried the unbearable news of her passing. From voice to silence in a single day. It’s hard to take in. Rest in peace, Hon. Nakimuli.

The loss of Hon. Nakimuli is indeed heartbreaking . We have lost not just a colleague, but a sister and a friend. She served with passion, courage, and a voice that truly mattered—she will be deeply missed. My heartfelt condolences to her family, all of us her colleagues, the people of Kalangala, Mr. President Bobi Wine, the LOP, and the SG. May God comfort us all in this painful moment and grant her eternal rest.

This morning at about 9am, I spoke to Hon Hellen Nakimuli (Kalangala Woman MP) regarding a meeting of Opposition MPs that we were planning for tomorrow, and she was coordinating it as Shadow Minister for Information. At the time, she was literally driving herself to hospital for a surgery which she indicated was not major. Unfortunately, she has not made it out of theatre. She has died during the procedure. Kitalo nyo dala!

We mourn with our colleague Waiswa on the passing of his beloved wife. This is a deeply painful loss, made even more difficult by his continued detention despite repeated applications for bail. At such a time, no one should be denied the chance to grieve with family and loved ones. Our thoughts are with him and his family. We stand in solidarity and call for compassion and fairness in this moment of grief. May her soul rest in peace, and may he find strength during this trying time.
