This is interesting because Israel is no longer denying the Nakba, which is its traditional position, and is instead justifying it. That is not only a massive development in terms of historical memory but also necessary, since Israel is committing another Nakba right now.

To the Nakba glorifiers: The Nakba was the result of the Arab rejection of the UN Partition Plan & decision to launch war to annihilate the State of Israel. You can't start war, openly vow to “throw the Jews into the sea,” and then pretend being the victim of the conflict you started. The real forgotten victims are the 850,000 Jewish refugees expelled from Arab countries at the same time.

Most interesting thing here is that the Israeli Foreign Ministry now acknowledges the Nakba happened. They just think it was justified. A shift from the long history of Nakba denial that said Arabs fled of their own volition because their leaders told them to.

Hari ini 78 tahun yang lalu, bermulanya 'Nakba' & meletusnya Perang Arab-Israel.
Setelah tumbangnya Uthmaniyah dalam Perang Dunia I, Palestin menjadi wilayah jajahan British, hasil perjanjian muslihat Sykes-Picout 1916 & Perjanjian Balfour 1917. British menjadi pentadbir ‘sah’ apabila diberi Mandat oleh Majlis Tertinggi Bersekutu & diizin Liga Bangsa yang berkuatkuasa 29 September 1923.
Bermula penghijrahan orang Yahudi ke Palestin, mewujudkan ketegangan yang akhirnya meletuskan keganasan antara kaum. Polisi anti-Yahudi Nazi yang membawa kepada Perang Dunia II memburukkan keadaan & semakin ramai Yahudi masuk ke Palestin.
Keganasan semakin memuncak & British mahu lepas tangan, maka diserahkan resolusi pemisahan Palestin pada November 1947. Belum sempat Mandat British di Palestin terbatal secara rasmi pada 15 Mei 1948, Zionis mengisytihar pembentukan Israel pada 14 Mei.
Bermulalah operasi pembersihan etnik dipanggil ‘Nakba’ oleh Zionis, yang menyaksikan lebih 750,000 orang Palestin diusir dari tanah sendiri. Serta-merta juga negara-negara Arab melancar tindakan ketenteraan menentang kebiadaban Zionis itu, mencetuskan Perang Arab-Israel yang pertama.
Mesir memulakan serangan udara ke atas Tel Aviv, disusuli operasi darat daripada Transjordan, Syria, Lubnan & Iraq menduduki kawasan selatan & timur Palestin seterusnya menakluk Timur Al-Quds. Rejim Zionis pula menguasai jalan utama ke Baitulmaqdis melalui Pergunungan Yehuda. Menjelang awal 1949, rejim Zionis berupaya menangkis ancaman angkatan bersekutu Arab & menawan seluruh Naqab di selatan Palestin hingga perbatasan Palestin-Mesir, kecuali Semenanjung Gaza.
Antara Februari & Julai 1949, susulan gencatan senjata berasingan antara Zionis dengan setiap negara Arab terlibat, perbatasan sementara ditetapkan antara wilayah dikuasai Zionis dengan negara jirannya.
Sejak itu, rejim Zionis Israel tak pernah berhenti ‘menggila’. Gila memperluaskan wilayah menerusi dasar Israelisasi di bumi Palestin. Kegilaan menjarah, menjajah & mengganyang nyawa manusia hingga hari ini.
