Shubman Gill did not ask to carry a billion dollar franchise on his shoulders. He just asked to bat. But when Hardik Pandya walked back to Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Titans needed a face, Gill was 25 & suddenly the most important boy in Ahmedabad. His numbers since have been obscene. 4000+ runs before 27. No one his age has ever scored more in IPL. But it is not just volume. It is the method. He is the only batter in IPL history to score 4000+ runs while averaging above 40 & striking above 140. Everyone else chose one or the other. Gill chose both. Since 2023, he has made 2428 runs in 55 innings at 49.5 average & 156 strike rate(Highest among all batters). His strike rate is higher than Jos Buttler in that stretch. higher than Sanju Samson. And he does not have luxury of an explosive middle or lower order to hide behind. No finisher to clean up if he fails. If Gill does not score, Gujarat Titans does not post a big total. He has to be consistent & aggressive in same breath. He does it with a calm that looks almost rude. He kills spin in middle overs & gives his supreme bowling attack something to defend. Rashid Khan, Siraj, Rabada, Holder; all of them firing , but even they need runs. Gill provides them like rent coming due, taking Gujarat Titans to the top of the table with permanent consistency of his top order. At Ahmedabad stadium, he owns the place. Over 1300 runs there, 3 hundreds, average above 50 with 163 strike rate. Crowd comes to see their boy. He is no longer the kid from Fazilka who looked too pretty to be tough. He is the landlord of Ahmedabad & everyone else is just visiting.

GT would consider this closest to a complete performance. Such a simple, consistent team - Thats now won four in a row. Shubhman the batter and captain was been fantastic tonight - And Rashid’s return to his best is a massive shot in the arm. Rajasthan erratic bowling didn’t help their cause !
