Canada is in decline. Pretending otherwise has become the central lie of modern politics That’s why I’m supporting Pierre Poilievre for leader of the Conservative Party. For years, Canadians have been told to lower expectations. To accept higher costs, weaker institutions, and shrinking opportunity as the natural order of things. To trust processes that never deliver results and elites who never face consequences. Pierre has rejected that premise outright. He has been clear about what is failing and why. Affordability is collapsing because government lost discipline. Housing is broken because policy protected insiders and enforced scarcity. Public trust is eroding because accountability has been replaced by managed excuses for repeated failures. Crime and disorder have spread because ideology replaced common sense and treatment was sidelined. Pierre doesn’t talk about these failures as abstractions. He names them. He assigns responsibility. And he insists that government exists to serve citizens, not manage them into dependence or lecture them into silence. What matters to me is leadership that understands power and is willing to challenge it. For too long, Canada has been governed by people more interested in protecting institutions than fixing them. Press releases instead of reform. Process instead of outcomes. Moral language used to excuse practical failure. Pierre represents a clean break from that culture. He understands that inflation is a policy choice, not an accident. That housing scarcity is the result of decisions, not destiny. That free speech matters precisely when it’s inconvenient. And that governments should be judged by whether they work. That clarity matters. Especially now. Canada doesn’t need another detached caretaker of decline who will never understand what's we're going through. We’ve had plenty of that over the last decade. We need a leader prepared to confront broken systems, challenge entrenched interests, and restore a sense that competence and accountability still mean something in public life. That’s why I support Pierre Poilievre, and why I’ll be voting for him to continue as our leader in Calgary at the end of the month.
