There are numerous non-monetary costs to surgical training, like moving cities. This article highlights those costs in the UK. This has not be quantified in the NZ setting. Worth studying?
Rhiannon Harries@rhiharries

What are the non-monetary costs of surgical training? Our @ASiTofficial study published in @RCSnews Bulletin read in full here publishing.rcseng.ac.uk/loi/bull#/doi/… Shocking, 8% of trainees moved house at least 10 times for work purposes!

Review on diverticulitis from NEJM. While antibiotics are commonly given for uncomplicated episodes, it is now unclear whether antibiotics are required... and this is the subject of an ongoing clinical trial at @Akld_Surgery
NEJM@NEJM

Diverticulitis is common and increasing in frequency. Most cases are uncomplicated and are typically treated with antibiotics. Sigmoid resection is performed in cases of severe disease and is considered on an individual basis in patients with recurrences. nej.md/2yqYBuv
