These heartbreaking incidents are a reminder that safety begins with awareness. Know who interacts with your child, whether it’s a neighbour, a family friend or a service provider. Predators often hide behind trust and familiarity. If you suspect abuse, report immediately through our toll free line 1519, where survivors can access help and support. #WKFAt20 #RestoringDignity

Minors defiled in Kisii: Police arrest two boda boda riders over defilement. They defiled a 10-year-old and a Grade 9 learner. One rider had taken in a 10-year-old “to provide care.” The second rider defiled a child he drops off at school #CitizenSundayLive

We often associate sexual violence with a stranger in a dark alley or room. However, the reality is far more distressing and widespread: most survivors experience harm at the hands of people they know. They are hurt by someone they trusted, someone they believed was safe.

We recently hosted visitors from Italy who came to learn about our work in addressing sexual violence in Kenya. During their visit, they met with members of the @SSVKenya and toured @MaishaSafehouse, a safe space, where survivors find healing, dignity and the courage to rebuild their lives. A heartfelt thank you to Sto Gran Tour for making this meaningful exchange possible. #WKFAt20

The Auditor-General has flagged human resource breaches at the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK), including the recruitment of managers who are not fully qualified for their roles. The auditor reckons that the banking regulator paid little attention to work experience and length of service for the undisclosed managerial roles and failed to involve the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) when setting its salary structure and perks, in breach of the law. We participated in a two-day Joint Working Session that brought together members of the Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and Women’s Rights Thematic Groups under UPR Kenya. @WanguKanjaF is a member of the Women Rights Thematic Group The session created space for joint planning, dialogue and policy alignment, strengthening collective accountability and building a unified advocacy front to ensure the effective implementation of UPR recommendations through a robust advocacy tool. This was convened by @EACHRights and @GEM_Africa #WKFAt20

In partnership with the @KNBStats (KNBS), we are hosting a 5-day technical workshop to review and refine our sexual violence data collection tools and develop clear, reliable indicators to better capture the realities of survivors. As part of this process, KNBS is implementing the Kenya Statistical Quality Assurance Framework (KeSQAF), a national standard designed to promote best practices in the production and use of statistics. Crucially, this framework also establishes clear guidelines for validating citizen-generated data as an alternative source to fill critical data gaps. For us, this is not just technical, it is transformational. It means that data generated directly from survivors and communities can be recognized, validated and used to inform policies, strengthen accountability and drive evidence-based interventions. At the core of this work is a commitment to ensure that every survivor’s voice counts in shaping a just and responsive system. #WKFAt20 #RestoringDignity

How can the @IEBCKenya speak of integrity while clearing a man deeply linked to sexual exploitation? Every time survivors raise their voices, institutions looked the other way. Will @Kenyajudiciary stand boldly with survivors? Justice For Tea Workers #StandUpForJustice

Survivors labored in KTDA estates with courage but leadership failed them. When the IEBC cleared Chebochok, it declared that integrity doesn’t matter. When KTDA looked away, sex-for-jobs was normalized in tea estates. Justice for Tea Workers. #StandUpForJustice

If IEBC’s rules reduce “good standing” to nothing more than ticking boxes and document checks, then we have a serious problem as a country. When Articles require “good standing” but lack enforcement or a clear standard, the provision becomes toothless. #HoldIEBCAccountable

IEBC ignored the constitutional spirit of Chapter Six and abandoned survivors who had spoken out against John Chebochok. By clearing him, IEBC not only failed survivors but also weakened public trust in Kenya’s democratic institutions. #HoldIEBCAccountable

With ballooning debt and increasing taxes, are citizens bearing the burden of poor economic choices? How can the government balance fiscal policy with protecting livelihoods? #ThePeoplesScoreCard

Three (3) years into President William Ruto’s administration, the bold promise of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) has not delivered the change Kenyans were promised. What was marketed as a hustler-centered blueprint has instead left citizens grappling with rising living costs, punitive taxes, ballooning public debt, and a growing sense of exclusion. Basic commodities like maize, fuel, and electricity remain out of reach for many households. Farmers are struggling under the weight of expensive inputs and unpredictable markets, while millions of youth remain jobless and hopeless. Small businesses, once promised lifelines, are suffocating under new levies and economic uncertainty. Meanwhile, corruption scandals continue to drain public trust, and democratic space is shrinking. Dissent is met with police crackdowns, digital surveillance, and attempts to delegitimize citizen voices. Communities feel sidelined as decisions that shape their futures are made without their input! The government boasts flagship projects and milestones, but for ordinary Kenyans, the reality is frustration, exclusion, and disillusionment. The gap between promises and lived experiences has never been wider. The #ThePeoplesScoreCard campaign is a citizen-led effort to reflect on these three (3) years of governance from the people’s perspective. It asks the hard questions: 1. What happened to the bottom-up promise? 2. Why are Kenyans paying more while getting less? 3. Who is benefiting from this system of debt, corruption, and exclusion? This is more than an anniversary,it is a call for accountability, truth-telling, and people-driven visioning. Join us this Thursday, 18th September, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM for the national campaign “Ruto @3: #ThePeoplesScoreCard.” Together, let’s expose the gap between rhetoric and reality, amplify grassroots voices, and demand a more just, inclusive, and people-centered Kenya. Your voice matters. Be part of the conversation. ✊🏾 #ThePeoplesScoreCard #RutoAt3
